The murder by a gospel artist

in HiveGhana5 hours ago

Greetings!

Early last week, on Monday or Tuesday thereabout, I was seated outside in the compound, enjoying the evening fresh air, when my neighbor walked up to me. The first thing he asked was, “Have you heard about what happened today in Abuja?”

“Abuja? Today?” I tried to think of anything I might have heard, but nothing came to mind.

“The gospel artist who beheaded his girlfriend. It happened today,” he replied quickly.

“Oh! That didn’t happen today; that has been trending for about a week,” I responded and reacted awkwardly. Firstly, the guy is never current with news—he could see a news story from three years ago and argue that it just happened now. Secondly, the news about the killing was something I had avoided so much because it’s just unthinkable.

The story is simple: A gospel artist, who is quite well-known, killed and butchered his 24-year-old girlfriend in the northern part of Nigeria. Why did he do it? According to him, he found out that the girl was cheating on him because she was hiding things from him. He claimed he did it to have peace and stated that he does not regret his actions.

While murder itself may not be a new thing and might not bother some people as much—considering that we’ve seen and heard more awful things like this—the reason I couldn’t bring myself to settle or develop an interest in the news is that it’s simply unthinkable. First of all, the guy in question is a gospel artist. I’m sure the girl agreed to date him because she saw a future and a godly person in him. Now, look at where she ended up. Where are we heading as a society?

Somehow, I still doubt the confession of the murderer, where he claimed he did what he did for the “just cause” of the girl cheating. But even if that were true, wouldn’t just killing her have been enough for someone that deranged? Why go to the extent of butchering the dead body? Oh yes, it was said that he was found with her head in a bag, and when they searched his house further, other body parts were discovered. It’s very obvious that the guy is into diabolical things. Maybe that’s what he has been using to excel in his musical career. But mind you, he’s into gospel music. Imagine that!

Sometimes, things happen that make you realize the world is truly unsafe. Sometimes, you may even wish for the world to just end. But it shouldn’t end yet—I haven’t tasted enough of the goodness of life. Lol.

If ladies are being selective in dating due to the fear of falling into the wrong hands, what about this situation? Naturally, no lady or person would ever imagine that someone who is deeply involved in godly things could go this far with their girlfriend.

The man is still in police custody, and I hope he doesn’t get bailed out. I sincerely hope that powerful people or his “godfathers” don’t work out his freedom. Of course, people like this usually have godfathers, and it’s possible that his godfathers might be among the gospel circle.

May God help us. Amen.
