Up in the Air, Down on Flavor?:My Experience with In-Flight Meals

in HiveGhana9 days ago
It’s funny how the first thing I thought about when I was to board an airplane for a 16 plus hours journey was food. I asked my dad if I was allowed to carry snacks and drinks on board and even my own food. Even after answering, I still kept on asking him more and more questions. Funny enough, when I got to the airport, I found out about all the stuff I was bombarding my dad with.

I’m a food lover and I love to eat well, especially when I’m hungry. Also, I’m Ghanaian and so obviously, I’d love my local dishes very much. Just today, I was telling a friend that for we Ghanaians, we don’t have anything like English breakfast. Our breakfast is either waakye, kenkey or even banku and we even ended up laughing about it.

Speaking of airplane food, from my experiences I’d say how good the food tastes actually depends on the airline. My first airplane food was with Ethiopian airlines and I wouldn’t say I really enjoyed the food. In Ghana, we love spicy foods but the food I had on the plane was a bit different from what I was used to back at home. The rice tasted different and even the stew and meat also. The spices weren’t as spicy as I thought they would be. And so I ended up not even having the food. But for their snacks and beverages, I had a lot to fill my belly.😅

However , I’ve also had meals on my trips with other airlines and I’d like to say with my full chest that KLM is the GOAT when it comes to airplane food. Man, their jollof was jollofing. This want Nigerian jollof but proper Ghanaian jollof. I know my Nigerian brother @fashtioluwa would try to argue but this flight was from Ghana so rest my dear.😂

One thing I love about catching flights aside the adventure is exploring foods from different parts of the world. It makes me happy. 😅 What’s your airplane food experience?

all images belong to me.

Try take some kenkey along. But I am wondering how you have three different drinks in one serving. Mango, cranberry, and Sprite?

I will do that next time.😂

I’m spending the money I paid. 😅

😂😂😂
I’ll like to try that waakye food, I have only seen Ghana food online and we all know that Nigeria jollof is the best.
I haven’t had any airplane food people, sadly I haven’t been on one but I have been on several plane in my dreams 😌😌 flying them soon in the real life.

Also, if I’m getting on a 16hour flight trip, I’ll take my fufu and okro soup along. I can’t be eating snacks, what energy do I want to use when I get there 🫣🥺

Fufu and okra soup on a flight?Fash be serious 🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣
The things we do for food

Haaa! If you’re going take me along.

Ghanaian jollof is the GOAT, argue with your phone.😂

heheheh, I know you won't agree but because of my love for you, I will agree with you

Hehe

I just remembered some funny experience. After I came to find out that every airplane serves food according class, I stopped complaining. Let’s just get that money first. (Not me ordering tuo zaafi in once I get to that first class)

Haha, that’s how they will drop you on the way.😂

This abena will like enjoyment o

I have had some really good airline food, but also some that was pretty bad!

I guess we are in the same boat.
