Lunch Dilemma: Homemade Meals vs. Eating Out

in HiveGhanalast year

I'm a big fan of food, and I don't shy away from showing my love for it. I'm a lover of good meals, and the aroma and taste are usually a delight when I cook and eat, but when it comes to my choice between eating out and preparing my own meal, I'm personally not a big fan of eating out, so I mostly prepare my own meal. Aside from the fact that it's more satisfactory, another is that it's more cost-effective and hygiene-friendly to prepare your own meal than to eat out at an eatery that would cost a fortune and where food is prepared in non-hygienic surroundings.

Food, as we all know, is a very important part of our well-being and an important part of staying alive and agile, so necessity can't be downplayed. So in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, it's important to eat at the right time and eat well, and that brings us to the focal point of this prompt: do I eat lunch out or prepare it when I'm hungry?

This is somewhat complicated because although I prefer preparing my own meal, the hours that lunch falls into are a time when I'll still be at the office, so if it happens to be a day when I didn't come to work with my breakfast, then there's a high possibility that I'll have to settle for eating out, and on most of such days, what I eat is just snacks and some drinks to gush it down.

As a teacher, I'm mostly in the school, which is my workplace, when it's lunch time, and the most feasible way to eat lunch is definitely to eat out, as I can drive down to the house to prepare lunch and then come back to work, and neither can I be cooking on the school premises, so the best way out of such a situation is definitely to eat out.

In most cases, like I said, I prefer eating snacks during such periods, since it's just to eat something before I get home and prepare something better, but I remember throughout last week I was seriously sick and couldn't summon the strength to enter the kitchen to prepare a meal. I decided to visit eateries around me to eat during this period so I could at least eat something and use the prescribed medicine, but after just two days of visiting the eatery, my account was already going down the drain.

I mean, for instance, on the first day, I spent over 8000 thousand naira and wasn't even satisfied, and on a normal day, if I were to visit the market with that same amount, I'd be able to prepare a meal that could last me the whole day. It's quite strange, but after having to spend the same amount for like 3 days, I immediately changed my mind and vowed not to eat out again. I decided that regardless of how tired I'm, I'd just summon the little strength I can get to prepare something that would save me more money.

So that's basically it. Like I said, I'll prefer preparing my own meal for lunch, and on most days when I can't, I basically just eat snacks. But as I'm using myself as a case study, I usually go to school with my homemade breakfast and hardly eat until 12 p.m., so with that, there's hardly a need to eat out except on a few days when I don't prepare any breakfast before going to school.

That's about it for now. I hope this helps you understand my routine and perspective about eating instead of preparing my own meal. Thanks so much for your time, and have a good day.

I'll love to say happy anniversary to Ghana and my Ghanian friends on the hive Blockchain, have a wonderful and productive years ahead.

Hehehe,,, spending 8k on a day at the eatery. Omo... though it is what most of us do, we realise that making our meals with the same amount can last us days instead of just a few hours of consumption. Like me, I eat when I get home because no matter the snacks I eat during lunchtime at work, they won´t do me anything. So, I try to manage myself till I get home, so I can prepare something nice and eat to my satisfaction. Preparing my meals has been saving me more money than eating out.

That's just it, the amount spent on eating out is way too much and yet you won't be satisfied, so it's better you go with homemade meal that's more satisfying.

You are very right.

But whenever you are not teaching you cook at home right? I love your opinion on what to eat and when.

Yes I cook most times and hardly have need to eat out except I'm buying snacks

That’s cool.

😂🤣😂😂
This is so funny, how can you spend such amount on lunch and you didn't run immediately 🤣
Your decision not to eat out again is the best.

Lol, it's not on lunch alone, I mostly eat twice daily, so the 8000 is like what I spent on both meal daily then, but with how that was going I have to run for my life and pocket.

Yea no more eating out except few snacks and maybe I'll carry your food flasks and run away.🤣

You, Carry my foodflask? You tht I know 😏

Honestly, there is nothing satisfying than eating a home cooked meal. You get to make your food taste how you want it, eat to your fill, get the required nutrition and also cook under hygienic conditions.

Take-out especially on a regular can break your account and it also has its own downsides. It can be such a task to try and stick to homemade food all the time when you have work and other factors taking up your time too.

Regardless, homemade food is the best.

Yea you've said it all, eating out after a tiring day and the likes is much better to save oneself from kitchen stress.

But aside that, homemade meal is great and much cost effective.

Thanks so much

Congratulations on participating in the PUD @vickoly. 💪🐝

Thanks so much, I'm glad I did.

I honestly love to eat out but it's quite expensive, luckily I love to cook too and I prefere stay at home for eat because it's cheaper and I can eat in my pajama ❤️

Yea both has there good side, while eating out save one from the stress of the kitchen which is good in it own side on some days, like you said homemade is much prefer eating at the comfort of your home.

I can use that 8k to prepare 2 pots of soup. This is one major reason why I don't eat out except for snacks.

I am also a teacher, so I wake up early to prepare both breakfast and lunch, pack in a food warmer and take it to school. This way I am saved from over spending.

Yea that's true 8k can do that.

I also do cook my meal until I was ill last week, but aside that, I cook breakfast Brunch before going to work.

That's the better way.

Have a lovely weekend.

Hahaha
This is interesting 🤣

🤣🤣🤣 let me breath 🤣

Homemade meals are healthier. One is sure of what ingredients used and the cooking process.

Yea that's absolutely correct.
