Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗

In this post I will be sharing with you how I made some yam flour the last time I went to the market. Yam flour is popularly known as elubo and it is the major ingredient of the Yoruba meal called Amala.
There is an amazing feeling when you go to the market to source for your raw ingredients (yam) from the scratch and make it into flour. I always want to go through the process each time I need to restock most of my flours.

So, I visited a local market in my area on the market day and I could see how everywhere is filled with so many dried yams, flour, potatoes and the likes. The sellers displayed the dried yams in buckets neatly arranged and the content of each bucket varies which also means the price also differs. After asking questions and weighing my options I opted for the one of #10,000 ($12.50 USD) per bucket. I bought two buckets which I'm sure will last me and my family for some time.

The most stress-relieving part of the market runs is that the seller also provides grinding services which makes it easy for buyers to convert their dried yam, potatoes or plantain to flour. The machine she uses is an industrial grinding machine that crushes the yams (potatoes or plantain) into flour within few minutes. So, I had to patiently wait until it was my turn since there were some people before me waiting to grind what they had bought.

When it got to my turn I watched how she poured the dried yams into the machine in turns and within minutes they were turned into smoothly brownish powder that is ready to be turned into amala. After the grinding process was over I was able to get two full mini bags of yam flour and it was interesting to follow the pricess from start to finish.

What next? I can't wait to make for my family some soft amala served with a plate of any of our favourite soups.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.
