RE: Monkey Gland Sauce As Promised

in The Pubyesterday

The name of the sauce makes it sound quite nasty!

(wondering how many men tried that surgery)

People really don't cook at home like they used too, but with the high cost of groceries, more people may have to learn in order to survive.

Except for putting the chutney in it, the rest of the ingredients sound very familiar. Even though you don't have time for it now, it's always good to have some backup ideas just-in-case.

Yes common ingredients, but the chutney makes such a difference. Amazing how lazy people have become and I know many people who are shocking cooks and if I lived in that house would also want take out.

I'm sure it does and although I have heard of and seen chutney, I don't think I've ever eaten any of it.

Fortunately I am old and born in the southern states of the US. When I was growing up, my Mom, Grandmas, Aunts and etc, were ALL good cooks and so my sisters and I have been too. I don't do extensive cooking as much now, but I don't eat out much either. I could go back to cooking all the time if I needed too since I have the knowledge and skill (at least for my region).....as long as someone else will do the dishes. ha ha

My dad was a chef so I grew up around food and have kind of taken over the cooking duties these days. Not all the time it depends who is busy or not. This was not intentional and just happened even though I am still learning.

My Dad was a fairly good cook too. He grew up poor (financially) and his Dad passed when he was a teen, so he helped his Mom a log with everything. When he traveled out of town he sometimes was invited to dine with the local fire chiefs home and it was not unusual for him to come home with some sort of good recipe. My older brother was also a good cook too, so he shared those duties in his life as well.

It never hurts to learn to cook. You never know when you might need it.
