This past Easter Sunday was a new one for me, I spent it flying across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe. In fact, over the last 48 hours I’ve done many firsts. First transatlantic flight, first time on a plane larger than a 737, first time in Germany, first time in Switzerland, first time on the metro, first time speaking broken, passable French to get around.
Lots of firsts!

So yep, I’m in Lausanne, and today I spent the day with my nephew being a total tourist. We quite literally wandered around aimlessly. We rode the metro to the end of the line and walked many miles down the hill through the hillside town. It’s hard to get lost here because Lake Geneva is at the bottom of the hills!
I’ve got separate posts to write on many of the sights, but one thing I’ll comment on in this post is how safe and serene this city is. Everyone is just so chill. Families, youths, elders, and pets are all just going about their days. Eating snacks, and being amiable human beings. It’s magnificent!

Today, we hopped around on the metro and city buses all over the place, it’s such a wonderful system that just works. I love the city’s transit system!
And the food! Holy tasty tourist treats is the food good here. It’s very costly, but the quality of the food here is spectacular. I cannot believe how it all tastes!
The scenery and the people are magnificent as well, everyone has been so pleasant, cars stop and their drivers wave kindly at you to cross the road. There’s an amiable, cordial spirit here, coupled with this permeating air of recreate and live life.
I may truly love this place.
Tomorrow we are meandering down the street to the International Olympic museum and honestly, who knows what else we’ll get up too. That’s one of the things I love about traveling with my nephew, the spontaneity of our itinerary.
There’s church bells and giggling humans outside my window.
Have I mentioned I love Switzerland?
