My husband is going to Philippines soon for a card event plus meeting up with other pastor in town. It will be 9 days without him at home, we are going to miss him a lot. Therefore, my husband asked me out for dinner yesterday, and the precious time spent together was a must!
Lanina Cafe
This is nearby where I stay at Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, famous for its tom yam, as well as a variety of food which suits everyone, young and old.
We super love the atmosphere here, it is situated at the road side, totally open air, hence superb air ventilation.
The whole place is considerably clean and well-maintained. Besides that, there is also a small mini playground area for kids. As well as a screen projector kind of movie area for customers. Yay!
Food we ordered
The menu is really extensive, covering the usual ala-Thai food, to all the 'goreng-goreng stir fry', to Western food as well as light finger food. We only focused on one menu.
After browsing this piece of menu, we decided to order the food below.
Sotong Kunyit (Squid deep fried with turmeric)
It was so delicious. The squid was not hard, so easy to chew and with well-blend flour with turmeric. Perfectly fried with onions, cauliflower and long beans. Super savoury.
Tom Yam Chicken
Hot, sour, tangy, a little sweet Thai soup with chicken and lemon-grass was super addictive. I almost wanted to add more rice to eat with this soup, but I successfully resisted in order to not gain weight. Haha. It was so aromatic with to taste of lemongrass, kaffic lemon leaves, galangal as well as the chicken bites, baby corn and cauliflower in it. Every slurp was absolutely satisfying.
Telur Bungkus (Wrapped Egg)
This one was omelette wrap. In it was savoury tomato-based sauce with chicken and mixed vegetables and onions. The egg was perfectly beautifully wrapped too. I tried to make this at home and until today still fail to make the wrap successfully. Somehow upon wrapping, the sauce would break the egg apart. Not sure how the chef did it but it was awesome. Delicious too! Just a tad sweeter for me but still acceptable.
We ate the above with white rice. For drinks, I ordered a cup of hot Milo and my husband ordered a glass of iced lime juice.
I love to see all the flags hanging around the shop in conjunction with our National Day which will be on the 31st August. So a selfie with Malaysia flag!
There is a place for you to wash hands too because some of us would love to eat with hands. And also a pao section. The shop opens from 3pm till 2am!
We had a superb dinner. We finally had time to spend with each other, just updating stuffs and catching up and chitchatting leisurely. With happy tummies, we went to our car, which we parked just at the side of the road, beside the shop! We sat in the car for awhile while listening to worship songs. Blissful!
