Greetings!
At the day of writing this, Christmas is just 8 days away, and the weather and the environment are buzzing already. I don't know about you, but for me, my entire being is feeling the season. Even though finances are not exactly abundant, I am still very much ready for it because, honestly, seasons like this should be taken lightly and not treated as a 'do-or-die' affair.
This brings me to my main aim of writing this piece and also serves as a response to the prompt in this community.
The following are some of the Christmas ideas I get along with whenever it's Christmas period:
Share love and care:
Whenever Christmas is around the corner, my first priority is to show love, especially to my family. This entails sending some amount of money home, and it is not an amount that should choke me. Rather, it is something I do willingly and with a cheerful heart. I have been doing this for several years now, and it has become a norm for me. I want them to feel loved, I want them to be happy even with a little money, and I want them to know that they have a child who always remembers them during such seasons.
This act, even if I don't get to eat scrumptiously on Christmas Day, is what gives me major joy, and I don't feel pressured doing it. Putting family first and making them feel loved should be a priority for everyone this season.
Moreover, not just family, this love can be extended to friends, external relatives, and anyone in the neighborhood who you feel you can put a smile on. Given how tight the season can be financially, this shouldn't put pressure on the giver. Let everyone give according to their strength and not forcefully.
I do this within my little capacity. For instance, there are children in my neighborhood to whom I go around and dash money in different denominations. Also, I have some elderly people I tip with a little money while wishing them the best of the season. I usually do this in a casual and lighthearted manner. We laugh over it, and it feels good because I don't want to be thanked endlessly by them.
Food and outing:
If I don't get to travel home for the Christmas period, I always make sure to have a very light budget for food and outings. In fact, these two rarely become practical because I am often too lazy to do the 'noisy' cooking.
For sure, Christmas Day is one of those days I don't get to work or attend to any customer, even if they come looking for me at home. I lay on my bed and find it hard to stage a 4-hour cooking marathon, as is the Christmas culture. So, I usually opt for something I can cook quickly and easily, eat, and then sleep.
As for outings? No. Unless someone comes to drag me out of the house, I prefer to stay indoors.
This is a clear approach to how I celebrate Christmas, and you too can adopt this—unless you are the complete opposite of me. Lol
Thanks for reading.
