Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de visitar la iglesia de la Cathedral, es el principal y más grande templo católico de Cuba con categoría de Basílica y Catedral Primada, sede de la Arquidiócesis de Santiago de Cuba, la Primada de Cuba. Se encuentra ubicado en el Parque Céspedes en las calles Santo Tomás entre San Basilio y Heredia.
Diseñada por el arquitecto Carlos Seguera, al estilo neoclásico, donde nos muestra un diseño sin igual.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Cathedral church, it is the main and largest Catholic temple in Cuba with the category of Basilica and Primate Cathedral, headquarters of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba, the Primate of Cuba. It is located in Parque Céspedes on Santo Tomás streets between San Basilio and Heredia
Designed by architect Carlos Seguera, in the neoclassical style, where he shows us an unparalleled design.
Al llegar te encuentras con una escalera de adoquines que te conduce a la entrada principal, una puerta muy amplia con arcos en la parte superior y con un lindo trabajo de rejillado entre la puerta y el arco acompañada de fuertes columnas a los lados muy bien decoradas y con un el capitél tallado en la parte superior .
Al entrar quedé deslumbrada ante tanta belleza, la vista se pierde y realmente no sabia por donde empezar.
Un conjunto de arcos y diseños angelicales a lo largo y ancho de toda la iglesia, cada arco tiene un ángel en la parte superior y separados por columnas doradas y se entrenezclan con el techo azul y blanco recreando imágenes celestiales.
Y en el medio una escalera de caracol de madera preciosa con un balcón circular decorado con imágenes de pasajes bíblicos de bronce incrustadas.
Upon arrival you find a cobblestone staircase that leads you to the main entrance, a very wide door with arches at the top and with a beautiful grill work between the door and the arch accompanied by strong columns on the sides, very well decorated.and with a carved capital at the top.
Upon entering I was dazzled by so much beauty, the view is lost and I really didn't know where to start.
A set of arches and angelic designs throughout the entire church, each arch has an angel at the top and separated by golden columns and intersect with the blue and white ceiling recreating celestial images.
And in the middle a beautiful wooden spiral staircase with a circular balcony decorated with inlaid bronze images of biblical passages.
Podemos observar una pequeña capilla donde se encuentra un retrato de San Pedro, el esposo de Maria, cargando el niño Jesús y al lado una replica de la crucifixión de Cristo, junto a la Virgen Maria, su madre y un ángel que estaba testificando su suplicio en la cruz.
También podemos observar una vitrina con Sellos que han sido utilizado por los diferentes Ovispos y sacerdotes que auspiciaron en la Iglesia,y un confesorio de madera preciosa, utilizado hasta nuestros días.

We can also see a display case with Seals that have been used by the different Ovisps and priests who sponsored the Church, and a precious wood confessional, used to this day.
En el exterior podemos encontrar la
estatua de Bartolomeo de las Casas,quien fue un encomendero, teólogo, filósofo, fraile dominico, sacerdote y obispo español del siglo XVI, famoso por sus escritos polémicos, y su vínculo con la Leyenda negra española, y de Cristóbal Colón quien Fue un navegante, almirante, cartógrafo, y explorador, reconocido universalmente por el descubrimiento de América el 12 de octubre del 1492.
También se puede observar un balcón muy amplio,lugar que es aprovechado para hacer diferentes actividades por la población, como ejercicios, en diferentes horarios.
Y para cerrar la fachada de la iglesia en la parte superior se observa un ángel entre dos torres. dando la visión de que una criatura celestial viene a entrega un mensaje de Dios a los humanos en la Tierra y la paz entre el antiguo continente y el nuevo continente.

You can also see a very large balcony, a place that is used by the population to do different activities, such as exercises, at different times.
And to close the façade of the church, at the top you can see an angel between two towers. giving the vision that a celestial creature comes to deliver a message from God to humans on Earth and peace between the old continent and the new continent.

Esta iglesia es muy visitada por creyentes y no creyentes, así como por turistas que visitan la ciudad, no sólo por estar en una posición privilegiada, sino también por la historia que envuelve este lugar, la catedral tiene el honor de guardar las reliquias de uno de los 12 apóstoles de Cristo, llamado Santiago el Mayor. Por eso la Catedral es la meta del Camino de Santiago.
Esta visita a la iglesia de la catedral, me ayudó mucho a cultivar mi aserbo cultural por todas las enseñanzas que atesora este lugar. Les recomiendo a todos los que vengan a Santiago de Cuba que pase por este lugar.
