Making Medan's signature dish "Special Fried Tofu"

Hello hello Vegan friends, This time I want to introduce to you a dish that only exists in our area. We call it "Fried Tofu".

If you think the contents of this dish are only fried tofu, you are wrong. Because this menu contains vegetables with special spices.


We often cook this dish, because the ingredients are easy to get and also the sweet and sour taste adds to the enjoyment of this dish.

Crispy and soft tofu combines with the taste of vegetables with spicy peanut sauce. I highly recommend this dish to you. Let's just prepare this.



Ingredients needed:

  • 3 pieces of yellow tofu
  • 1/2 block of tempeh
  • 200 grams of lettuce
  • 100 grams of bean sprouts
  • coriander leaves

Spices:

  • 150 grams of peanuts
  • 3 pieces of garlic
  • 100 grams of cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 salt
  • 50 grams of palm sugar
  • 5 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 100 ml of boiling water

Making Process:

  • Cut the tofu and tempeh into squares or smaller.

  • Prepare a frying pan with oil, turn on the heat then fry the tofu and tempeh that have been cut.

  • While waiting for the tofu and tempeh to cook, take the lettuce leaves, then take the leaves and separate them from the root stem. and cut the lettuce leaves

  • Then wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly

  • ​​Wash the bean sprouts thoroughly,

  • then boil 500 ml of water until boiling.

  • After the water boils, put in the washed bean sprouts. and turn off the heat. let it sit for 5 minutes then remove the bean sprouts and drain.

The necessary ingredients are complete. Fried tofu and tempeh. and prepared vegetables.

  • Prepare the Seasoning

Add the peeled garlic, then add salt and cayenne pepper. Grind until smooth, then separate in another container

Fry the peanuts until they turn brown.

  • Once cooked, grind them using a manual grinder, and grind them until they are slightly coarse.

  • After the peanuts are slightly smooth, add palm sugar and grind again, Then add the chili that has been ground into the ground peanuts. Stir until evenly mixed

  • Put the ground spices into another container. then add sweet soy sauce. stir again until evenly distributed.

  • Finally, boil 100 ml of water until boiling then mix the boiling water into the prepared spices. stir again

The dish is ready to be served.

  • Prepare a plate, then add the bean sprouts - fried tofu and tempeh and lettuce. Then add the spices that we have mixed with water.
