I think wasting food is a sin and we should not waste food. Many people starving for food and if we waste food, it's kind of inhumanic.
My mother also follow the same procedure like to not waste food.

              Honestly it's just inhuman to waste when some people have nothing to do
              Not being wasteful is not a hard work to achieve
