Bread and akara (bean cakes) is a classic Nigerian food combo that is enjoyed by many, even as street food. But I saw it online with a new crispy twist on it. Instead of serving akara alongside bread, the both were merged into one, by coating slices of bread with bean paste and fried to golden perfection. So I decided to try it out, and the result was a crunchy and flavorful meal that takes the commonly known food to the next level!
Let me take you through the step-by-step process of making this beautiful, delicious treat.

- 1 cup of beans
- 1 medium size onions
- 5 chili pepper
- 1 tablespoon ground pepper
- Oil for frying
Procedure
- First step wash the beans properly
Next thing we're scrubbing it properly to peel the back of the beans
So we use the sieve to separate the peels from the beans. Making sure everything is properly peeled off.
So normally at this point we put the beans into the blender but while making this there was no light so I had to use the local way
I used mortar and pounded the beans to paste. It's a little more stress but it was perfect
So next I pounded the pepper and onions too and mixed them in the paste

I used the mortar to mix the paste with the pepper and onions properly and adding little more water to it too. We want to make sure the paste is not to thick and not too watery either

So I was done with the paste and set it aside. Then I took the slices of bread and coated it all with the paste

Next I was frying them all in the vegetable oil till they turned golden brown and crispy
So there it was done, super delicious and appetizing.
Making this meal was super fun and rewarding even though I had to go the traditional way, pounding the beans instead of blending, but I'm glad it came out really perfect! And it can be used as breakfast or snacks .
I hope you enjoyed the process of making this. Thank you all so much for your time here, and see you next time!
