What do you think when you see this dish? Hehe I imagine this popular Japanese dish is very interesting. Of course, with simple local ingredients, it is no less delicious than what you buy at Japanese restaurants out there. Softly wrapped with rice added in a mold makes this dish rich in appearance. I love the cute shape, and I think this would make a great bento for my family someday.
Tempeh Onigiri and Vegetables
Onigiri is one of the most popular Japanese dishes lately in my area. Many people are interested in this food besides its cute shape, it has a delicious taste and is even made with rice. As we know, Indonesian people always enjoy rice as a staple so it is very easy to adapt to dishes like this.
The onigiri that I made is made from simple ingredients in the form of a mixture of chopped vegetables, namely carrots and chickpeas, then given an additional source of protein from tempeh. The flavor itself is enhanced by the savory dish from the tempeh so that it will create the perfect taste!
Ingredients Needed
1 carrot
3 chickpea vegetables
Nori to taste
¼ onion
½ tempeh board
1 celery stalk
2 tablespoons sesame oil
Cooking Procedure
Cut the chickpeas and carrots into small pieces according to your taste. Here I cut the small origin just so that later when boiled easily soft.
Boil the two vegetables for about 10 minutes until they are really soft and perfectly cooked.
Here I add vegetable protein in the form of tempeh. Chop the tempeh until smooth.
Then chop the onion finely, and also chop the celery leaves.
Prepare hot rice, which has a slightly mushy texture then add sesame oil, stir until the oil is evenly distributed.
Stir fry the onion with a little oil, then add the tempeh and celery leaves and cook until the tempeh is cooked.
Season with salt and also mushroom broth cook until brownish yellow.
Cooked carrots and chickpeas cut as finely as possible according to taste.
Then mix with the rice and all the ingredients are ready to be molded.
Add rice on the first surface of the onogiri mold then top with tempeh and cover again with rice.Print and finally give a touch of nori on the outside. Onogiri is ready to be served, don't forget to sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Result
Onigiri is great to eat in the morning or afternoon. It's perfect as a lunch for your children or husband. I am so happy to have made onigiri for the first time, although the texture is not as dense as the original but I am very sure it is much more perfect. Hehehe I was afraid that the result would not be satisfying but thanks to this mold that I bought a long time ago, it became denser and of course it really helped me.
So if you are confused about preparing rice in a different way, let's make this recipe, it is very nutritious and of course has a delicious savory taste and is sure to make you full. Good luck with the recipe, let me know if you do!.
