Jelly balls are always a great way to get kids to enjoy fruit, and I’m no exception—I’m making fresh watermelon balls with jelly to welcome them tomorrow.

Hey, vegan lovers—fresh fruit doesn’t always appeal to kids, but by preparing it differently, they’ll definitely polish it off in a flash. Today I’m making jelly balls using a round jelly mold—commonly called a “grape mold” here.

I plan to make fresh watermelon jelly, inspired by a friend who made fresh grape jelly this way. This method is great for getting kids to eat fruit, which is usually a real challenge. Kids absolutely love them because they’re small, round, and look so cute. No special process is needed—the preparation steps are quick and easy. Anyone can easily make this jelly because the process is so fast.

Curious about the preparation steps? Let’s take a look at the step-by-step process.

Ingredients

200 grams of watermelon
1 packet of jelly powder
2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
400 ml of mineral water

Preparation Procedure

Cut the watermelon into small cubes or to your liking, making sure they fit into the jelly ball molds.

Place the cut watermelon pieces into the molds, filling each cavity completely.

Bring to a boil, then pour the jelly mixture into the molds containing the watermelon. Make sure they’re full, then cover tightly and let set until firm.

Serve the jelly on a serving plate or skewer a few pieces on a skewer—the result is so cute! When you shake it, it wobbles; I really love doing that. The jelly is so soft and chewy—no wonder it disappeared so quickly at my friend Kembrin’s house party. It turns out everything is topped with jelly. For the jelly, try to use a chewy variety like the one I used so the result turns out better.

These watermelon jelly balls are truly very unique, the sweetness is just right, plus the fresh sweetness of the watermelon. I love how the combination is just perfect on the tongue; the seed-like texture paired with the bright, fresh red watermelon makes the combination so distinctive that anyone can make it.
