Main routes of infestation by parasites
Ingestion of contaminated water or food.
Consumption of poorly cooked foods.
Use of contaminated utensils or tableware, either because flies have landed on them, or because they have been washed with dirty, contaminated water.
- Inhalation of eggs or cysts of parasites present in the environment, for example, those that are on a sheet, or those that are on the ground.
- Contact with contaminated water, where parasites enter the body intradermally.
- Walking barefoot on soil contaminated by parasites, also entering the body through the dermal route.
Contact with contaminated feces.
Contact with other contaminated people and animals.

Main types of parasites
- Protozoa.
- Helminths. Among the helminths are: Nematodes, Trematodes, Cestodes.
