Praying is good. We must understand that there are things that must follow our prayers for it to be effective.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
For instance, prayers must be done out of faith. The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. When any person comes to God, such a person must believe that God exists. He must be sure that God can do whatever he or she is asking for. But anyone who does not believe in God cannot come to God for prayers. How will you call on the one whom you don't believe in? So, the beginning of prayers is to believe in God.
James 1:6-8 (KJV) But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Another thing that we should understand about our prayer life is that we must pray without wavering. The Bible says that anyone who wavers cannot receive anything from God. He say that such a person is like the wave of the sea which is tossed by the wind.
Mark 11:24 (KJV) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
This means that we should not have a double mind when we are praying. We should believe in our prayers and the God we are praying to.
James 2:26 (KJV) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
We have also learnt from Bro Eli Soriano in this video that when we pray we should act on the subject of our prayers. That is the application of faith. When we ask we should for on what we have asked. That strengthens our belief in God and His faithfulness in answering our request.
