Currently, I am in Spain where most restaurants have a menu of the day, usually handwritten. If Google Translate recognises the dish name at all, translating "ropa vieja" to "old clothes" doesn't help me understand what I'll be eating.
This is why I made Menu Translator App. It works quite well even when the menu is handwritten and hardly legible. Take a photo of the menu and the app provides a list of the dishes along with an explanation (rather than a literal translation). A short press on a dish reveals more information, such as dish photos and the pronunciation. A long press highlights the dish. Explanations will be in your local device language, menus in 80+ languages can be recognised.
