Hello friends of Hive and TBT Thursdays, today I join you again to share great memories of my life and read and enjoy the stories of each of those who make life in this community. The anecdote I bring you today goes back to the year 2021, when my brother and I heard about the opening of a Japanese food themed restaurant and decided to go with my nephew to try their main dish, ramen.
This dish is mainly seen in anime, in my case I know it from Dragon Ball and Naruto hehe. I had always wanted to try this typical Japanese dish and here in Medellin have opened since I came to live here, different places where they serve this food, but this place I will show you is very different, you will see why...
Hola amigos de Hive y de los jueves de TBT, hoy les acompaño nuevamente para compartir grandes memorias de mi vida y leer y disfrutar de las historias de cada uno de los que en esta comunidad hacen vida. La anécdota que hoy les traigo se remonta al año 2021, cuando mi hermano y yo nos enteramos de la apertura de un restaurante temático de comida japonesa y decidimos ir con mi sobrino a probar su platillo principal, el ramen.
Este platillo se ve principalmente en los animes, en mi caso lo conozco desde Dragon Ball y Naruto jeje. Siempre había querido probar este plato típico japonés y aquí en Medellín han abierto desde que llegué a vivir aquí, distintos locales donde sirven esta comida, pero este lugar que les mostraré es muy distinto, ya verán por qué...
This place is specifically in the area of El Poblado, a very popular place in the city basically for the variety of food you can find there, yes, it is one of the most expensive areas to go to eat. That same year when the restrictions of the pandemic were being removed and we could go to the street again, they opened this place, the truth is that in a short time it became famous for its appearance and its food, which led everyone who wanted to visit it to make a reservation in advance due to the high demand that the place had and has. The name comes from a Ramen restaurant from the Naruto anime, whose owner and his family had the recipe for the best ramen in the city that had passed from generation to generation, which is why most of the ambience of the place belongs to this reference.
I don't remember exactly the date of the day we went, I only know that it was a Saturday night and the line of people waiting to get in was very long. The only disadvantage of the place is that it has no parking, so we had to get one nearby since we were in a car and then we walked a few blocks to the place. One of the coolest things is that the uniform of the waiters and staff in general, is of Konoha ninjas, they wore the same vests and attire, seeing that from the beginning was great. The place is a bit small, it has 2 floors; the main one where you arrive and another one down, that area is a bit more exclusive and private. In the photos you can see that besides being set in Naruto, it also has murals and a very nice decoration of Dragon Ball before going down to the VIP floor, in it we can see one of the most beautiful scenes of the anime, when Krilin and Goku train with Master Roshi.
Este lugar queda específicamente en la zona de El Poblado, un lugar muy concurrido en la ciudad básicamente por la variedad de comida que puedes encontrar ahí, eso sí, es una de las zonas más caras para ir a comer. Es mismo año cuando ya se estaban quitando las restricciones de la pandemia y podíamos ir nuevamente a la calle, abrieron este lugar, lo cierto es que en poco tiempo se hizo famoso por su aspecto y su comida, lo que llevó a todo el que quería visitarlo a hacer su reservación previa por la alta demanda que tenía y tiene el local. El nombre viene por un restaurante de Ramen del anime de Naruto, cuyo dueño y su familia tenían la receta del mejor ramen de la ciudad que había pasado de generación en generación, es por ello que la mayor parte de la ambientación del lugar pertenece a esta referencia.
No recuerdo exactamente la fecha del día en que fuimos, solo sé que fue un sábado en la noche y la fila de personas esperando entrar era larguísima. La única desventaja del lugar es que no tiene parqueadero, así que nos tocó conseguir uno cercano ya que íbamos en carro y luego caminamos algunas cuadras hacia el lugar. Una de las cosas más geniales es que el uniforme de los meseros y personal en general, es de ninjas de Konoha, portaban los mismos chalecos y atuendos, ver eso de entrada fue genial. El local es un poco pequeño, tiene 2 pisos; el principal por donde se llega y otro hacia abajo, esa área es un poco más exclusiva y privada. En las fotos pueden ver que además de estar ambientado en Naruto, también tiene murales y un adorno muy bonito de Dragon Ball antes de bajar al piso VIP, en él podemos ver una de las escenas más bonitas del anime, cuando Krilin y Gokú entrenan con el maestro Roshi.
After taking the pictures we proceeded to eat, I had pictures of the dishes but I lost them, however, you can see more or less how they looked in the picture where my nephew is tasting the ramen. It tasted delicious and the decoration was impeccable, just like you see in the anime. There was no need to order dessert as we were satisfied with the food and since it was the first time we all tried ramen, I must tell you that we thought it was a very cool dish and worth trying. In front of our table there was a huge Dragon Ball mural so after eating we took a picture of my nephew holding his samurai sword from one of the pillars of the anime Kimetsu No Yaiba.
Después de haber tomado las fotos procedimos a comer, yo tenía fotos de los platos pero las perdí, sin embargo, pueden ver más o menos como lucían en la foto donde mi sobrino está degustando del ramen. Su sabor estaba delicioso y su decoración impecable, tal cual se ve en los animes. No fue necesario pedir postre ya que quedamos satisfechos con la comida y por haber sido la 1era vez que todos probábamos el ramen, debo decirles que nos pareció un plato muy genial y que vale la pena probar. Frente a nuestra mesa había un mural inmenso de Dragon Ball por lo que luego de comer le tomamos una foto a mi sobrino mientras sostenía su espada samurái de uno de los pilares del anime Kimetsu No Yaiba.
As you can see the entrance of Ichiraku Ramen is very striking, the success of this restaurant has led its owners to open a branch in the capital city of Bogota where they take j-rock cover bands to play live since its facilities are larger than these of Medellin. During the year the restaurant offers good deals for groups and also has food competitions for the more adventurous. If I had to recommend the place, I would do it with my eyes closed, their service and food is of high quality and the costs are not as high as you might think.
Ramen is a simple dish to prepare, but it has its secrets so that the taste is exquisite; it is a soup that brings noodles, eggs, pork, corn, seaweed... as you can see in the last picture which was taken last year in a different restaurant that was participating in a ramen festival in the city, it was delicious, but we liked the one from Ichiraku Ramen better hehe. The most difficult part of eating ramen is the use of the “hashi” or chopsticks, at the beginning it is quite an odyssey, but when you get to master them, the rest is history 🤘... Como pueden observar la entrada de Ichiraku Ramen es muy llamativa, el éxito de este restaurante ha llevado a sus dueños a abrir una sucursal en la ciudad capital de Bogotá en donde llevan bandas de covers de j-rock para que toquen en vivo ya que sus instalaciones son más grandes que las de Medellín. Durante el año el restaurante hace buenas ofertas para ir en grupo y también hace competencias de comida para los más atrevidos. Si tuviera que recomendar el lugar, lo haría a ojos cerrados, su servicio y comida es de calidad y los costos no son tan elevados como en un momento llegamos a pensar.
El ramen es un plato sencillo de preparar, pero tiene sus secretos para que el sabor sea exquisito; es una sopa que trae fideos, huevos, cerdo, maíz, algas... tal como pueden apreciar en la última foto la cual fue tomada el año pasado en un restaurante distinto que estaba participando en un festival de ramen en la ciudad, estaba delicioso, pero nos gustó más el de Ichiraku Ramen jeje. La parte más difícil de comer ramen es el uso de los "hashi" o palillos, al principio es toda una odisea, pero al conseguir dominarlos, el resto es historia 🤘...
