Here's my entry for the BeerSaturday 403 with another beer from the Canton Brasse brewery. This week it's Bowen, an Irish redhead. When I'm out of Montreal, I like to find out if there's a local brewery where I'm going, and go for a spin to bring back a few beers. In Quebec, almost every town has its own brewery. Magog in the Eastern Townships has Canton Brasse and Memphré. The choice is yours 😀.
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 403 avec une autre bière de la brasserie Canton Brasse. Cette semaine il s'agit de la Bowen, une rousse irlandaise. Quand je sors de Montréal, j'aime bien me renseigner si là où je vais il y a une brasserie locale et aller faire un tour pour ramener quelques bières. Ce qui est bien au Québec presque chaque ville à sa brasserie. Sur Magog dans les Cantons de l'Est, on retrouve Canton Brasse et la Memphré. On a le choix 😀.

As a reminder, Canton Brasse was launched in the fall of 2019, a few months before the pandemic and containment. But Nicolas Bernier Tanguay and his father Claude Tanguay managed to weather the crisis with takeaway can sales. Later, Steven Lariviere Beaudoin and Hugo Mariage joined the team to set up shop in Orford next to the Deux Tomates pizzeria. The brasserie welcomes customers with a “bring your own food” formula.
Pour rappel, Canton Brasse a été lancée à l'automne 2019, quelques mois avant la pandémie et le confinement. Mais Nicolas Bernier Tanguay et son père Claude Tanguay ont réussi à traverser cette crise avec les ventes en canettes à emporter. Plus tard, Steven Lariviere Beaudoin et Hugo Mariage se sont joints à l'équipe pour s'installer dans la ville d'Orford à côté de la pizzéria Deux Tomates. La brasserie accueille les clients avec une formule "Apportez votre bouffe".
🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :
Bowen** is an Irish-inspired red ale with 4.5% alcohol. In the glass, it has a fairly dark caramel color topped by a fine head. On the palate, you first taste the peaty malt, which I like, but then the caramel takes over, making the beer a little too sweet for my taste.
La Bowen est une bière rousse d'inspiration irlandaise avec 4.5% d'alcool. Dans le verre, on a une robe couleur caramel assez sombre surmontée d'une belle mousse. En bouche, on goute d'abord le malt tourbé que j'aime bien mais après le caramel prend le dessus et rend la bière un peu trop sucrée à mon gout.
Design
The design of the brewery Canton Brasse remains unchanged. A single color generally represents the beer well, here a beautiful orange topped by the brewery's name in an original typeface. On the back, there's a sort of Haiku describing the beer here: “The chance to drink what nature gives you. Caramelized and lightly smoked”. Exactly that.
Le design de la brasserie Canton Brasse ne change pas. On a une couleur unique représentant généralement bien la bière, ici un bel orange surmonté du nom de la brasserie dans yune typo originale. Au dos, on retrouve une sorte de Haiku décrivant la bière ici : "La Chance de boire ce que la nature t'offre. Caramélisée et légèrement fumée". Exactement cela.
