Hello Hivians and all you beer lovers.
Saturday on Hive of course means it's time to write about the good old amber nectar or Beer!!
This is a hot off the press post!
The beer in question has just been drunk by me with my dinner that I cooked and the beer it is one of my favourite beers.
Every time I drink an Old Jock, I feel I am indulging in me.
If I had a pound for everytime I have been called Jock I would be rich. It is a nickname for a Scotsman that many Welsh and English people love to dole out.
Today was the second injection in my fortnightly arthritis treatment, not helping with the pain or movement yet, they do say it could take upto three to see an improvement if at all!
Well it was an excuse for a beer...
Scotland's First Independent Craft Brewery
I do love this, craft brews tend to have been a newish thing...
But these guys have been brewing craft ales since 1979, yes 45 years ago!
The beer they started with is the beer we are drinking this afternoon.
It has won umpteen awards and no wonder. It is a darker ale which of course I like.
In fact I would call it a heavy.
God I miss the days when you could walk into a pub up here and ask for a pint of Heavy!
Old Jock
What a big head you say!
All for a good reason!
I just love the creamy foam!
The bubbles have settled a bit
So time to stir the pot!
While I let the pint settle
I tell you what though, this old Jock was having fluffing conniptions...
Football yes football, my beloved Rangers were playing a late game away to Dundee.
What a disaster with 75 minutes played we were 3-1 down!!!
Fast forward twenty minutes and we won 4-3
I tell you, fluffing crazy assed game!
It did not dampen my spirits, I love Old Jock.
An ABV of 6.7% always puts a wee bit of well hello there on my lips as I take my first couple of sips...
Yeah I think I will stick with 6% plus beers for the now. Quality over quantity I think!
The food shot
I had knocked up a chicken, ham, mushrooms, courgettes, garlic coriander leftovers dish served up on a bed of spaghetti
As Mrs T says an ...
Eddie special
... never to be repeated as I just throw things together.
It is a technique that has been honed after decades of drinking a tasty beer or three whilst cooking!
Old Jock is a perfect accompaniment to food!
It was a tasty beer and I had my lips licking while I got some more inspiration from reading this weeks #beersaturday post.
Cheers to a fantastic community in Hive and a wonderful initiative!
Cheers 🍻
My verdict - The SIMPLE things in LIFE deliver the BEST reward.
So what did I think? Right let's get into character...
Laddie, Old Jock's a keeper. Deep, dark, and fruity, with a warmth that'll chase the chill. A proper, robust ale, just how we like 'em. If ye fancy a rich, hearty brew, this one's yer dram!
A bit of toing and froing with Gemini and we came up with that.
I love dark smooth creamy fruity malty caramel ales. Old Jock fits right into that bag.
Of course I have drunk loads of them over the years. It really is hard to believe it has been on the go for 45 years!
One day I will take note of the hops that beers have.
Ironically I was almost going to a Brewing degree but stuck to Chemical Engineering!
The deets
