Smudge in the sun, a few months back
Happy Birthday Smudge!
Today's news is that my very fluffy housemate Smudge turned 19 years old today!
That is definitely a ripe old age for a cat... the "equivalent age" in Hooman years would be 92 years of age, so wow!
What Smudge mostly does, these days: Sleeping...
Over the last few months we have been worried about Smudge because she's just aging so markedly, but she has hung in there for another birthday!
We're having a nice sunny day — although quite cold — today, so there are nice sunpuddles around the house for everyone!
She does love her sunshine...
Smudge became a part of our household a little before Thanksgiving in 2021 because her original Hooman was moving out of the country to the Dominican Republic, and didn't want to subject an elderly cat to having to travel, being quarantined, and then going from a cushy life to living under relatively primitive wilderness conditions where her Hooman would be providing medical services to remote villages.
And so, my Hoomans agreed to let Smudge live out her life in comfortable loving surroundings. We have been very happy to welcome her as part of our family.
Smudge is almost entirely blind, but se DOES know when treats are coming!
