Hello my dear friends, this is my first time uploading content in this community, I could not miss the opportunity to share with you something extraordinary, and is that a few months ago I planted in my house a Roselle bush that I took care of with great dedication and recently sprouted the first flowers, so I started to grow them to dry them and finally I prepared a delicious drink with them.

Dried flowers are available in the supermarket or in a health food shop but as I grew my own bushes at home, the first thing I did when I saw that the flowers were ready for harvesting was to start cutting them, it is important to use scissors because pulling them off could damage the stems and then no more flowers would grow.

Then I collected the flowers in a container and removed the petals which are the ones that should be used, that green you see there is the bulb that contains the seeds, as I didn't collect too much I ran the risk of spoiling them while I was waiting for the other flowers to grow, so I put the petals in a paper bag to dry them in the sun.

When I had enough flowers I put all the petals in a pot and boiled them for five minutes, this way we will get the maximum benefit and all the properties of the flowers. You will notice that after boiling the water has turned a vinitinto colour, this is because the flowers have already brought their full potential.

At this point you can add sugar if you wish and drink it as a hot infusion, but I added two glasses of cold water and strained it to separate the flowers from the liquid.

This way you get a refreshing and delicious drink, its taste is a little sour but you can enhance the flavour by adding a little lemon if you wish, but if you add sugar it will be great because you will balance the flavours.

You may wonder what happened to the green flower bulbs, right? Well, after they have dried out they look like this and it is then possible to extract the seeds, which you can sow for a new plant.

That's all for today, friends, I hope you are encouraged to prepare this delicious drink at home, as I said you can get these flowers in any shop specializing in natural products but you can also grow it at home to enjoy all its benefits in addition to its delicious taste.

Hi @mairene1

Jamaica Flower is a noble and versatile ingredient that can be used in multiple ways. This juice is delicious, refreshing.

Now, we want to make an observation about your post: If you read our community rules, you will see that we ask our users to appear in a minimum of 3 photos, making their amazing drinks; and in this post we do not see you doing this procedure. Keep our rules in mind in future posts.

It is also not necessary to cite the properties of the ingredients you use, just do it in a general way. You will place the scientific name of a plant or fruit if it is little known on a planetary level.

Greetings.

I know it was not necessary to mention the properties but I wanted to do it because I thought it was very important, in fact knowing the properties of these flowers was what motivated me to plant it in my house, as for the observation of the photographs, I did not know, thank you.

Hola @mairene1

Feliz domingo.

The end result looks really really great... although I have the weird suspicion it does what Moonflower does 🤣

Probably not though, it looks delicious though if it was meant for drinking? I assume it is? What does it taste like?

Of course it's a drink, haha in fact in the post I said it, I even described the taste, a bit sour, I said it at the end of the post, as for the moonflower I don't know it, I had never heard of it.
