Wedang is one of the most popular drinks in Indonesia. There are various types of wedang that you can find in our country. One of them is what I will prepare this time.




Drinks Wedang Bread Coconut Milk

Wedang is a traditional Indonesian drink, usually drunk warm with a mixture of spices such as ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, and various other types of leafy herbs. This one is quite unique to me, and of course very authentic with the addition of coconut milk to the drink. Interestingly, this drink is enjoyed with fresh bread as a complement to the wedang.

The taste is quite authentic, especially enjoyed warm like enjoying hot compote, but there is a ginger flavor and aroma. Some of you might think it's a dessert, but believe me for Indonesians it's a drink. Strange but that's the reality, I'm at a loss to determine the category. But after looking it up on the internet, I'm pretty sure to post it as a drink.

So here I will invite you to do the preparation.




Ingredients Needed

2 sheets of white bread
500 ml coconut milk
2 pandan leaves
4 cm ginger
1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon sugar



Coconut milk can actually be replaced with full cream liquid milk. But since I was in the mood for coconut milk, I added those ingredients. And added sweetened condensed milk to make it thicker and more colorful.




Making Procedure


cook the coconut milk and add the concluded pandan leaves.

Add sugar and then add the ginger that has been roasted.

Next add sweetened condensed milk cook until the coconut milk boils and also don't forget to stir while cooking.

Then I prepare white bread by cutting it into small pieces or according to taste.

After the coconut milk ginger drink was prepared, I strained it so that the spices would not be carried over into the drink. Then serve in a glass by adding fresh bread. Now my tips are to enjoy it while it's warm and make sure you don't mix all the bread. Just stir it slowly in the wedang drink so that the bread is not crushed in the drink. I also recommend that you do not add too much bread so that you can enjoy the wedang coconut milk as a whole.

The taste is unmistakable, very authentic, sweet and savory and very fresh with the combination of coconut milk and ginger. The aroma of ginger is so strong that it is very flavorful especially the part that I like to enjoy the bread that soaks into the coconut milk makes me more full this time.
