I've been helping my Dad a lot more and learning how to install windows and doors, painting shingles, fixing and learning the ins and outs of cars, etc. I wasn't interested in any of this stuff as a kid. I feel like now I'm playing a game of catch-up.
I'm realizing that by my age maturity isn't about aging, its about experiences. You can be 40 and a life without experiences means you haven't matured much since you were 18.
I think I lot of people are in arrested development as a consequence of smartphones. Instead of taking in their surroundings and learning new things most people just stuck to their phones. I'm starting to see social media and the internet in general as a bit of a cult, and I want out but the problem is I can't 100% get off the grid because the internet is too essential for day to day life. I have to learn to minimize it somehow which is difficult.
