Spending the last days of summer with one last weekend getaway this month! In the town of Peñiscola, this castle rises from the sea.
This was built by the Templar Knights and was once the seat of Pope Benedict XIII, who the locals call Papa Luna. One can visit the inside of the castle and its adjoining gardens for €5, but of course nothing beats this view by the shoreline once you make the trek down. Then after a hot day's walk, it's time for a swim!
