No day is ever the same when you work with children.
Today was no exception.
During the diaper change routine, I noticed something concerning: a few children had developed suspicious blisters on their hands, feet, near their mouths, and under their diapers.
Alarm bells went off immediately as this is a common symptom of contagious hand, foot, and mouth disease.
With two new cases today, the total number of affected children had risen to four, which is unusually high.
The parents were contacted to schedule appointments with their doctors and to protect the younger children from exposure.
This disease can cause painful oral blisters, making it difficult for children to eat and leading to fever.
Fortunately, the day calmed down significantly after this chaotic start.
Following the children's afternoon nap, my hairstyling skills were put to the test.
As a mother of two boys, I have limited experience with pigtails, especially on a two-year-old who insisted on turning her head in every direction.
It was quite a challenge!
We then had a well-earned snack break and spent the remainder of the day playing.
With rain showers and a cold breeze keeping us indoors, autumn was clearly showing itself.
The youngsters seemed to find it easy to adapt to the seasonal variations.
My day ended with a visit to a family friend who lately had triple bypass significant heart surgery.
Particularly at the age of seventy, this is a major operation. The surgery went well, thankfully, and he is currently on his road to recovery.
I hope the fruit and other goodie package will support his further healing.
I enjoyed hearing his stories and those of his wife, who is quite a talker.
Both of them have such kind hearts.
Wishing you all the best in life and much health.
