It's not that big, but any snake always gives me a fright the first second I lay eyes on it. This one must have seen us first as it looked pretty threatening, and defensive. We were about 2 metre away so we just stayed still to see what it was going to do.
Nothing was happening, and it looked frozen, so I got a couple of photos then backed away and gave it a wide berth.
It looked like a harmless green snake to me but not being expert better just not to take any risks.
This encounter took place at the start of our afternoon run/walk. He or she was not there on our way back.
