For my wife's birthday we visited one of our favorite places: Whidbey Island.
We left on Monday fairly early, but despite that, we were not able to fit on the ferry that was coming in and had to wait for another ferry to come in from the island.
This was our first time this year going to Whidbey Island when the weather was nice and warm.
As we got to the island, we drove straight to Langley and checked into our hotel. As we looked out of the window, we saw that the tide was out, so we decided to go straight there and check out the large sandy beach.
It was fun walking on the sand that was sinking in a bit with my every step. Our daughter had fun in the water.
After an hour or so on the beach, we had to leave as we had a reservation in Coupeville at the Oyster Catcher, which has become our favorite restaurant on the island.
I ordered pasta, which I thought was really delicious. My wife ordered a fresh Halibut dish that was really complex and really flavorful.
Our daughter went with a safe choice ordering Gnocchi. We sat by the window with a view on downtown Coupeville and Puget Sound. From the open window, I felt a slight summer breeze, and it was a perfect summer evening.
We also ordered a couple of deserts, and our favorite was Beignet with strawberry and cherry sauce.
By the time we finished, most stores were closed, but we still went for a walk around downtown Coupeville before going back to Langley and our hotel.
We finished our first day on the island by taking showers and getting some time in a bathtub with salts.
It was a perfect ending to a nice and relaxing day.
