Friends, our friend and colleague from Rising Star Gary is a man of few words. His friends always say that he is very calculating and always gets out of everything without saying much about it. At work they have seen him in difficult situations but he always gets out of them without complaining too much. However, on the contrary, his same colleagues at work are always complaining if something does not go well. He has this reserved personality because he is always guided by the principles that his father taught him. His father taught him that if something has already happened and that something cannot be solved by complaining or talking, then it is better to remain silent. He also taught him that if one day he has a problem, he should solve it with actions and not with words. His father was someone tough and hardened by work, but he was someone who loved him very much.

That is why he tried so hard to teach him, so that he would not go through the same difficulties as him. That is why today we have a Gary who does not talk much but who always takes action quickly and finds solutions where others cannot find them. But you know, he was not always like that with the personality that his father taught him, in fact when he was little he was the opposite of what he is now. He was a very shy child who did not dare to take the lead in anything and much less take action when there were problems.

At that time he had a dream, a dream that was later shattered. You see when he was a child he had the dream of being a drummer and playing the drums as part of a famous band. His idol was Sebastian, a drummer in a rock band that was played on the radio all the time. For a long time he kept this secret inside himself and did not want to tell his father. His mother died when he was born so he had no one to tell. And he hadn't yet built a strong enough bond with his father to tell him directly that he wanted to dedicate himself to music, specifically to be a drummer. Many times when he dared to tell him, his father came home tired from work beating things, so that put him off.

Time kept passing and he was already finishing primary school, so soon he would have to decide what to do with his life. When he was about to make this important decision and finally become a drummer, his father took the lead. One day he said to him, Gary, I already have a job lined up for you. Gary's father worked at the port as a longshoreman on a forklift, and he got him a job to do the same alongside him. Gary simply didn't know what to answer and let himself be overcome by the way his father told him that that would be his job. At that moment, his father had shattered his dream and future, but it wasn't all his fault. Later, Gary admitted that he should have said something or at least told him his dream much earlier. Maybe everything would have been different, but it's too late to regret it now. It's here that he learns for the first time his saying of fixing things with action and not with words. Now he was a longshoreman, being a drummer was gone.

And here we come to the present. His father died a long time ago, but Gary is still here working as a longshoreman. He inherited his father's manner and words perfectly, he was almost an exact copy. He was shy and a man of action and very upright. His colleagues had and still have a lot of respect for him. And his dream of playing the drums was forgotten. But not for long. You see, recently he was unloading a load from a ship. And the lid of a container opened. So he got off the forklift to fix it and put the lid back where it was. But when he looked inside the box, what was there was a shiny drum set, it was obvious that no one had ever used that instrument.

It was at that moment that he remembered all his past and what he had missed by not taking action at the right time. For the first time he felt a lot of regret for not having done something to change his situation and follow his old dream. He cried like he hadn't done in years, he let off steam, something he had never done until now. He looked up and with a laugh for the first time in many years he told himself that it wasn't too late to start. He didn't know what he would do, but he was going to pursue his dream no matter what. Never let others make important decisions for you.

Well, my dear friends from Rising Star, this is my story for today. I hope you liked it. If so, please leave me your opinions in the comments. I will be delighted to read them. Thank you very much for reading my story today. See you in the next post.
