THE UNFORGIVING BONES

So, something scary happened tonight and it just took me down the memory lane of my first time witnessing it. We were eating dinner tonight and suddenly, I heard my mom making some strange soft sounds. She was eating her fish and the bone got stuck in her throat. She drank water, cleared her throat, and did all sort of things, but this bone refused to go down. Luckily, when she tried swallowing a morsel of semovita, it worked! I was so relieved and glad because I dislike it when things like that happen.

The whole scenario made me remember when it happened to my uncle. That is the scariest I have seen in my entire life. We were also eating dinner that faithful night when fish bone got stuck in my uncle’s throat. All efforts employed to remove the bone or flush it down all proved abortive. It was a really scary night for the family that year.

When it happened, we all rushed out to have him cough it out. We tried everything we could and used all the techniques we knew but it didn’t come out. He put his finger in his throat, drank a lot of water, swallowed morsels, we also boiled water for him to drink, and did a lot of things. He kept and hurting and even started getting weaker.

At a point, the unexpected started happening. HE STARTED COUGHING BLOOD! I was so scared that night, everybody was. I had never experienced something like that before. Blood started coming to his eyes as well, it was so scary. It took a while before the bone finally came out, and it turned out to be a really slim bone with a sharp edge. We just thanked God for keeping him safe. The next morning, he looked so sick and stressed. We had to go to the pharmacy to explain the situation of things and ask for medications that will help him get better.

I don’t like when things like that happen to people, it makes me panic so much and stresses me so much mentally. I am not always too careful with fish bones, but the few times the bones have gotten stuck in my throat, it doesn’t trouble me much before it disappears. I’m just glad my mom is okay tonight and didn’t turn to a scary story. I hope she will be more careful moving forward.

Have you ever experienced this personally or witnessed it happen? How was it for you?

Thanks for reading ❤️

Thank God your mom is okay.
It's never a funny experience especially when it happens to a child. You wouldn't even know what instructions to give to the child because the child is already crying.

Eiii, that is really true, I can’t even imagine it happening to a child. I will be so scared and even cry with the child 🥹
