Health challenge on a Saturday

in Rant, Complain, Talk19 days ago

Greetings!

For some days, I've been suffering from catarrh, which is a more severe form of the common runny nose. This is the only health issue I suffer from year to year, and according to a lot of findings—though casual—it seems to have no major cure because it comes and goes temporarily.

Early in the morning on Saturday, I woke up around 4:30 AM. When I got to sit on my chair, the symptoms flared up heavily. I started sneezing, and in such situations, the home remedy I usually use to quench it or at least reduce it is to make hot water, pour it into a cup, and place my nostrils over it to allow the vapor to penetrate and keep my nose warm, thereby easing the symptoms. After I had done that, it reduced a little, but after about 20 minutes, it came back again. At that moment, the only remedy left for me was to take pills.

Catarrh or Running Nose Pills:
In case you don't know these pills, they are 100% sleeping pills. I don't know why all such pills are made like that, but once taken, they make the user lazy, weaken the bones, and cause drowsiness. They are so intoxicating and make the entire day useless.

So yes, I didn't want to take the pill because I would end up having a useless day, and it was Saturday, which meant there was absolutely no chance for me to go and have a sleep, except if I were ready to be woken up every 10 minutes. But the sneezing and runny nose became too much, and I couldn't bear it, so I resorted to taking just one tablet. Yes, it's an abuse of the medication because two tablets are recommended for adults, but because I didn’t want to have uncontrollable drowsiness, I decided to take just one.

I took it around 7:00 AM after having a cup of tea, and 30 minutes later, I felt a little relieved—no longer sneezing, but my nose was still blocked.

About 40minutes after, the drowsiness arrived, so heavily, as if I hadn’t slept at all the night before. It’s something I was prepared for, so I didn’t give in to it by lying down or sitting still. Instead, I went about the work of the day. When I was done and less busy, the drowsiness hit with full intensity because I was seated and not doing anything. I didn’t even realize when I gave in and slept off with my head on the table. That sleep lasted about an hour, and I was so surprised because, throughout the slumber, I didn’t get disturbed.

Guess what? When I woke up, the runny nose and sneezing came back again. Since I had just woken up from sleep, I thought that if I took the pills again, I wouldn’t feel the urge to sleep again—but that was a big lie. I went on to take another pill, and from that moment on, I battled with drowsiness until evening when I was done for the day. At the moment I typed this, I was just waiting for the time to hit 9:00 PM so I could launch into my bed and finally submit to sleep.

I hope that by the time I wake up the next morning, the symptoms will have vanished completely.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry about your runny nose but you should know that those pills will make you drowsy. Anyways rather than take the pills continuously, take hot liquids instead

I'm better.
For the first time after two to three weeks, I woke up without catarrh and not like I took pills yesterday.
God is good 😅

All the time bro 🙏
