23 years ago, Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley dropped an album called 'In Search Of'
For some that don't know better, it could feel like it was the start of an insane hall of fame career for Pharrell, who over the past two decades has become one of the most influential people in the music industry. The reality is, Pharrell had been around the scene for close to a decade, been wildly succesful in 1992 with Rump Shaker and in 1998 with Noreaga's Superthug. With the Neptunes, they had early produced Mystikal's 'Shake ya ass' and Jay-Z's 'I just wanna love you'.
The Neptunes were already well established. So why drop an album with NERD, named 'In Search Of', and experiment away? And how is this translated where I am now?
Because it is about trying new ventures. Linked to things that you love, incorporating existing strengths with opportunities that come to your path.
I've been extremely lucky in my life that I got to make my own decisions in life and don't feel peer pressured to do things that I don't enjoy. The amount of opportunities are close to insane. So today, is about gratitude. I'm thankful, that on a day that I would consider a fail 3 years ago, maybe even 3 weeks ago, I can now consider it a win.
So, I'm leaving you with a little song:
Today, I went 12 out of 20. Which is pretty impressive, but I need to work on goal 1.
And what that meant? Maybe, I'll share it tomorrow.
Or tomorrow will be a totally different freewrite. Who knows.
