I read through this post and what caught my eye was the bit about self voting.
I’ve never fully understood the hive ethics around self voting.
It seems if you have a lot of hp it is frowned upon to self vote, as it is seen as milking the reward pool.
Though I’ve noticed there are still some big hp accounts that do it and yet they don’t seem to face any repercussions.
So in my case, I used to self vote when I was lower hp. It didn’t feel wrong to me. I figured I had invested in hive, I give real effort and time on my blogs or vlogs and I don’t tend to get these big whale upvotes, so me self voting a nickel is fair.
Even now, I’m on an upvote trail that when it votes I give a small vote too, sometimes my post gets voted and so I still get an auto self upvote. For some reason that feels fine to me. That and I’m a lazy fucker and don’t want to figure out how fix self voting upvote trail dilema.
There seems to be so many hidden rules in hive.
Am I a bad hive boy?
Maybe I need a DV bitch slap.
Now I’m not asking to be on your bot list. So I’m not so concerned
whether I’d lose an upvote if your bot discovered my leechery.
My kids account on the other hand. Thebombkids love to self vote🤣
I said to them that some people frown on that on hive. ‘Why’ they both couldn’t understand how if they could give 2 cents to themselves, why wouldn’t they.
But they were both excited to be on your bot list. ‘I wonder if i will get one of those slobber votes’
My son asked recently.
So, this long winded comment is
- part musing on…. Why is there such unclear hive self vote norms/ethics
- Will my kids really make them selves ineligible for a vote from your slobber bot if they 2 cent self vote?
If that is the case. I guess that is a good answer to their ‘why’ question
If they want to get the slobber….they best stop jerking the self chicken
