Living ins South Korea as an ESL teacher, the vacation days are always very short. We get 5 days in summer and 5 days in winter. This time around we had Chuseok holiday which is like a Korean version of thanks giving. I had a few days off and my mother-in-law wanted to experience Vietnam. So off we went to get to vietnam. Plans were tight and I scrambled to get a visa, but luckily my visa was ready 2 days before the flight.
This was the first time my kids got on a plane so for them it was instant excitement met with a lot of boredom.

We were lucky enough to not have a fully booked plane so there was some space for them to pass out. =P

I know my mother-in-law loves seafood and soju. I was on a mission to get us a good restaurant with good seafood and the drinks that she likes. I was able to find an amazing restaurant that offered a private room for us. While it was not the perfect dinner, since we had to wait quite a while, it was very memorable.
We ordered some pork belly as a starter, and it did not dissapoint.

Porkbelly is extremely famous in South Korea, so experiencing it in a different country was going to be interesting. The meaty part was soft and tender, while the skin was crunchy and crispy, we all loved it!
Next came the seafood boat. All the seafood was extremely fresh and the crabs and prawn were still alive and moving. They topped it off with the broth and covered it up to let it cook.

After a few minutes the food was done and the broth was amazing, we added some extra spicy peppers to it since we normally like things spicy.

The waiters were nice enough to crack the crabs for us so there was not that much work for us to do. The crabs were a little small though and not that much meat, still a nice little snack.

Overall it was a prety good experience and the presentation was top notch. We feasted and left almost nothing from that boat (I ate all the fish).
When paying, I was a bit shocked since they told me tax was not included and they didn't accept cards, that emptied my wallet quite a bit. Mother-in-law was happy though, so mission accomplished!
This is the first of a few posts about visiting Vietnam. It was a short trip, and I wanted to take more pictures, but I had to take care of my kids. Having a 2- and 4-year-old on a trip is a mission in itself, and there isn't that much time to take photos.
