Ingredients
🥛 1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar)
🥚 1 large egg
🧈 2 tablespoons butter, melted
🌶️ 1/2 cup hot sauce
🍅 2 tablespoons ketchup
🧄 1 teaspoon garlic powder
🧅 1 teaspoon onion powder
🌶️ 1 teaspoon paprika
🌿 1 packet Sazon seasoning
🌑 1 teaspoon black pepper
🌿 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
🍤 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Instructions
1- Prepare the Buttermilk:
- If you don't have buttermilk, simply combine 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar.
- Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes until thickened.
2- Marinate the Shrimp:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and half the hot sauce.
- Add the shrimp to the bowl, ensuring they are fully submerged.
- Allow them to marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
3- Mix Seasonings:
- In a separate bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Sazon, black pepper, and half of the chopped parsley.
4- Coat the Shrimp:
- Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk mixture, letting excess drip off.
- Coat each shrimp with the prepared seasoning mix evenly.
5- Fry the Shrimp:
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once hot, fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
6- Prepare Buffalo Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine the melted butter, remaining hot sauce, and ketchup.
- Heat over low heat, stirring, until the butter is fully melted and well combined.
7- Toss the Shrimp:
- In a large bowl, gently toss the fried shrimp with the buffalo sauce until they’re fully coated.
8- Garnish and Serve:
- Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with the remaining parsley.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the crunch and spice!
