The town of Altea celebrated this weekend an event which included a craft market. It was located in a square, in front of the small church of San Francisco.
A cosy, beautiful atmosphere is what the time we spent among the artisans' stands has given us. Some faces already sounded familiar, because a few weeks ago we visited another similar market in La Nucia. The organization, Amata, is the same, but there were many other artisans that we did not see earlier. Maybe there were more of those local artists and craftsmen from Altea that I saw yesterday. In any case, I enjoyed seeing these new crafts.
While we were walking toward it a black cat crossed our path. My husband was joking that it would bring some misfortune... However, he quickly corrected himself: the black cat would mean that we would have luck and the coffee shop that is close to this market would be open.
Until the very end, it was uncertain whether the cat brought luck in the end and whether we would be able to drink that coffee or not. You will see that at the end of the post. Hey, don't cheat and just scroll down to find it out. First the market and kitties from there. Leather kitties.

Although these two cats appeared in the Christmas mood, not all leather handmade keychains were related to Christmas. If I had all of them... it would be a cool collection of cute keychains. 😁
The cuteness level has gone up at this stall. Backpacks, bags, belts, hair accessories, dolls and more. I fell in love with one backpack but it was 45€. A bit expensive for a bag, so my eyes went back to the winged rabbit dolls.
Well, I think they were kind of rabbits..? One had bat wings and the other had fairy wings, so probably they are different kinds of creatures that the imagination of the artisan created.

My husband already strolled through the whole market and I was just on the second or third stall. 😂
I stayed for a long time talking to the lady who was making these ceramic "thingies" that represent jellyfish and other sea creatures. It was so interesting to see that the part of these items were living plants. I was surprised and confused about how they were watered then, especially those that were hanging as jellyfish.
She was kind and explained that these were Air plants and the only thing you had to do was to spray them with water. Of course, it was not just the plant that made the items attractive. The bodies of the jellyfish had striking colours.
This made me laugh a little because I imagined combing my hair with that tiny bone comb. What do you think, would this be possible? And how long would it take? 😆
There were several other stalls with crafts that I liked. We bought a little wooden souvenir, actually a phone holder for our son, but it is a surprise that he will get for Christmas. I hope he will not read this post in the meantime. ;)
And now, let's see what did the black cat bring. Luck or bad fortune?
Both!
The coffee shop was open but the waiter announced that it would close in ten minutes. No time for any cake, just for a cup of coffee. Prince Hefromund XVI had to pose quickly, this time I didn't forget to place him there like the last time when we went to a pastry shop.
He is a bit injured, I don't know what has happened but there is a little mark above his left eye. I have to take care of little Ph16 but also about myself. In this market, I bought a handmade face cleaner, which is not a soap but a face cleansing mass of shea butter, red clay, lavender and ylang-ylang. I used it already yesterday evening and today, but it is too early to say if it is good for my skin.
Anyway, thanks to the black cat we at least had the coffee but the waiter locked the door before we finished it. He joked that we have to pay twice if we want to go home. 😂
