Ice had an X space yesterday with the theme: what is your biggest achievement in 2023? Different speakers took turns sharing their testimonies and milestones. I was inspired by the many testimonies and decided to write mine. I have had an interesting year in crypto and I would like to share my story with the community.
I have been in the crypto space since 2018. I was onboarded on Hive and my journey in the Web 3 space has been that of a content creator. It has been an amazing and life-changing experience for me. However, sometime last year I decided to try something new. I wanted to do something in the real world and prove to myself that I could also replicate my success in other spaces.
So I started my ridesharing business in the second quarter of 2022. It was an amazing experience, however, in the latter part of that year, I experienced some challenges that almost ruined me financially. After several failed attempts to revive the business, I decided to go back to the thing I know how to do best–writing. It wasn’t the easiest decision because I had sold almost all my crypto to finance this business hoping to recoup my initial investing in a year to reinvest in crypto but that wasn’t the case. I had to start from zero and I did not know how my community would receive.
In February I started writing and networking again. It was a slow start (as expected) but for the first time in months I was not just having fun doing the thing I love but also I had peace of mind. As long as I maintained my routine of writing, engaging and networking, I was fine. Also, for the first time in months, I could save. This was strange to me because my business earned me 10x more than what I was making as a content creator but I was unable to save. This just confirmed to me that I was in the right place, doing the right thing.
A month after re-entrance into the crypto space, I won a contest. The prize money was enough to sort out most of my pressing debt and I had enough to cover for my brother’s college tuition fees. I also got some other gigs that earned me some money on the side. This all happened in the space of a month. This was my biggest win for the year 2023 in crypto.
Another milestone I like to celebrate is my 11 months of not powering down my hive stake. This is very important to me because this is the first time in the last five years on hive that I have been able to achieve this feat. Now I understand, to some degree, why some people hodl. I am hoping to celebrate my 1 year of not powering in February 2024.
Away from crypto, I am ending the year engaged. I am getting married to the love of my life. She is an amazing young lady and I am thrilled by the prospect of spending the rest of my life with her. This is probably my biggest achievement of the year.
GOALS FOR 2024
My primary goal for 2024 is to better myself. I want to be more than just a creator in the web space. I have always wanted to be a developer and that is a dream I am not giving up on any time soon. My partner and I have decided that this will be the priority for 2024. So I am going to be putting in a lot of time and resources to achieve this in 2024. Hopefully, I can secure my dream Web 3 job.
My second goal is to 10x the value of my current portfolio. Thankfully, we are in the bull market and this goal of mine seems feasible. Like previous bull runs, I have liquidated tokens to sell whenever there is a significant pump. I am also making some adjustments in my life that will allow me to invest most of my earnings. So I am looking forward to seeing how that pans out.
My third goal for 2024 is to network more, especially outside Hive. I want to me other people from other communities, share ideas and collaborate. A lot is happening in the Web 3 space and I want to be part of it. I understand that crypto tribalism is self-limiting. There is a huge chance I start an X space, so be on the lookout.
