Getting to HiveFest, Split last September wasn't an easy task... Despite living in Europe, I had to change flights on my way there and back home as well... There were other options to get there, but when I calculated the time and the price, it wasn't worth doing it, so I chose to change flights to Rome airport... Btw. I occasionally have motion sickness, so flying twice in one day didn't sound thrilling... lol... Anyway, both times I had a longer layover, so I had time to stroll around the airport... On my way to Split, I had over 2 hours, and on the way back I had to have less, but the flight was late, so I had even more layover...
The Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is located in Rome Fiumicino which isn't that close to Rome itself... I was considering the option of using my spare time to visit Rome, but at that time of day, the heavy traffic would take all the time and I wouldn't see anything except the interior of a taxi or an Uber... So, instead of doing that, I was walking around the airport and using my time wisely, writing a post on Hive! 😃

To my pleasant surprise in those moments (when I had both my connections, in both directions), there was an exhibition INSIDE the terminal of the airport... Knowing the name of the airport (Leonardo da Vinci), that shouldn't be a surprise, but still, having some museum exhibits in the middle of a corridor was strange to see! If you click on the image above and open the new tab, you will be able to read all the details about this exhibition...
These pieces are collected from the Roman colony of Ostia, where you can see a mix of Roman emperors, young wrestles, and famous Roman Gods, like Apollo, Juno, or Demeter, and the Nymphs...

And then, out of nowhere, you have a KFC... It's like going to the museum with a hamburger in your hand... You don't do that! But, at Rome airport, that's possible to do it... 😃
To kick the ball back into the "cultural side", there was a piano available for people to play while they were waiting for the flight... As my wife wasn't with me, the seat stayed empty...
Do you recognize the photos from my laptop screen? That's my first post that I published on my way to HiveFest, Split! I remember how excited I was about the upcoming event and I couldn't wait to arrive and see my old (and new) friends! I have even forgotten about my motion sickness and I had no issues with it on all 4 flights that I took in that week!
A new Hive meetup is coming, the Hive Creator Days in Graz, Austria and I'm starting to feel excitement for that one too! It will be another complicated trip as I have no direct flights again, but this time, I will combine planes and trains probably...
Are you coming to Graz in May? As tickets were sold out in 4-5 days, the @buzzparty team secured an additional 10 tickets! Check out the post and reserve yours!!! See you there!
Thank you for your time,
