A medieval-style coffee at the Knights Templar Castle in Vălișoarei Gorges, Alba County, Romania
Hello coffee lovers
A good coffee can have an even better flavor if it's drunk in a place where you don't expect to find it.
Initially I thought of this place as strictly historical, about counts and countesses, but wait, the owners have managed to bring to life a concept that perfectly blends the historical (without being altered) with the modern.
The castle can be seen from a great distance, being built in a fairytale place, the Vălișoarei gorges, after having seen it many times through pictures, it is time for me to get here and experience the past and the present, the medieval and the modern.
So today I am taking you with me to experience together what I have experienced here.
To get to the castle you have to turn off the county road and continue on a dusty road for a few hundred meters, the road is suitable for any type of car, right in front of the castle you will find a parking lot not too big, but if it is full you can park safely on the side of the road.
Before we sat down at a table, we admired the view around the castle, it's something spectacular to be able to have a coffee or even a bite to eat with such a view.
The first time I ordered a coffee and a still water, I honestly couldn't sit down to drink my coffee, I was actually walking along the castle walls with my face behind me (several people were doing that, hehe).
I will leave below some information about the castle and then we will go a little bit to see what it looks like inside.
Knights Templar Castle is less than 10 minutes drive from Aiud on DJ107M, and if you come from Cluj, about an hour drive. The Templul Cavalerilor Castle is located in a nature reserve, in Cheile Valisoarei, in a protected area of national interest corresponding to IUCN category IV, located east of the Trascau Mountains, in the southern part of the Râmetea Depression in Alba County, on the administrative territory of the municipality of Livezile. The natural reserve Cheile Valisoarei has an area of 20 ha.
During the Second World War, the castle became a ruin, later being rebuilt and partially regaining its medieval appearance with the skill and dedication of a Brasov doctor. FACILITIES AND INFORMATION The interior of the castle is decorated in medieval style, and the twenty rooms currently included in the tourist circuit differ in configuration and design, so that the atmosphere can take you back in time by several hundred years. The castle is dominated by stone and solid wood, and the rooms have four-poster beds. The terrace of the castle offers a wonderful, fairy-tale view, where coffee, tea and meals can be served in an atmosphere full of beauty, harmony and tranquility. Dinner and lunch are traditional Romanian, you can savor the traditional soup of the castle.
Let's take a look inside, too.
My dear visitors, I hope you enjoyed the atmosphere and the view where we enjoyed a very good coffee.
Big hugs and see you at the next coffee blog.
THE END!
