Today I visited a milk tea shop called “Onnii House.” It's located in an area with a lot of other milk tea places so the competition is high. The name “Onnii” sounds Japanese and cute, but I don’t know what it means.🤪
The first thing I noticed is that the shop has both indoor and outdoor seating. I chose to sit outside – the outdoor area has low tables and chairs, with a lot of white gravel. 😚No one else was sitting outside, only me so I felt a bit lonely. At the end of the space, there are some small trees. The decoration is simple not too fancy.
The indoor space is long, but not wide. The setup is simple, clean, and has decent lighting – not too bright, not too dark. Overall, it’s a quiet and chill place.
I ordered a drink with an interesting name: “Young rice tea with coconut and lotus seed”. Sound good taste.
This type of tea is trending now so I wanted to try. I’ve talked a lot about “cốm” – it’s green young rice, very fragrant and crispy, a special food from Hanoi’s autumn. But this drink didn’t have real young rice in it. I only saw green color like syrup, no crispy rice grains, and I didn’t see any lotus either. Just some white chewy pearls. It smelled like coconut and young rice, but the taste was too sweet, no clear tea flavor, mostly just milk and sugar. The name sounded good but the taste didn’t match.😟
The price is 40,000 VND for this cup, and I think it’s not worth it. Most drinks on the menu are around 32,000 – 50,000 VND, which is a bit more expensive than average.
Quick summary:
- Space: nice, clean, both outdoor and indoor, simple design
- Drink: pricey, not impressive, the one I tried wasn’t good
- Service: normal, nothing special
- Maybe I’ll come back to try other drinks for a fairer review
For me, Onnii House has potential in terms of space, but the drinks need improvement if they want to stand out in such a competitive area.
