This is the beginning of my 2nd week here in Hive, and I am having a great time sharing my stories with you. It is finally the day of our most-awaited holiday. I bet the inner child in each of us had a really great time ripping off presents under the lighted Christmas tree. Above all, I know that the excitement we had was immeasurable as we gathered in one place with our loved ones who have been far away from us for months or years due to work.
Now, let me bring you to a place that might be of your taste to have your family dinner.
Have you heard of Lantaw?
Beside Bibiana Mercado Integrated School, located in Central Nautical Highway, Danao City, is a trail that will lead you to Lantaw, one of the many food places here in Danao that people are very fond of. You can take the hike or the motorcycle ride journey on the way there; either way, you will be able to feel the fresh air leading you to the place.
The word lantaw is a Bisayan word that can be translated as "to look over” or “overlook"—a perfect word to name the place since the location itself provides you an overlooking experience of the popular golf course field in Danao and of the city filled with dashing lights at night that resemble the twinkling stars above. Inside Lantaw are the different food stalls that offer you a variety of food choices; barbeque, seafood, fried foods, drinks, desserts, and more.
When is the perfect time to visit Lantaw?
The place operates from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day. One of the best points of Lantaw is its cinematic view of the sunset, so if you want to witness this phenomenal natural event, it is most ideal to visit Lantaw around 5 to 6 p.m.
If you are not available at that time, worry less because the moment the night gobbles up the place, varities of colorful LED lights will start to illuminate the surroundings for its lovely guests. You can then take photos with your family or friends to your heart's content.
The time I went to Lantaw
I have been there several times already, and I love my experience every single time. My older sister has always been kind to invite me with them whenever she and her boyfriend goes on a dinner date at Lantaw.
Yes, I am always the third wheel, so please kindly hold your horses hahaha. Nevertheless, I always make sure to pay for their kindness for letting me tag along by capturing their sweetest moments together on camera. In short, I am their photographer.
We take turns taking photos, but my Ate is never good at capturing photos, so I let my Kuya capture one for me while I do my awkward poses.
Dinner time!
When it's time to order our food, I’m always the one left behind at our table to tend our belongings and the space. The moment I’m left alone, my introverted self starts to feel anxious as expected. Now, let me tell you about this one experience I had. One time, after eating our dinner, my sister and her boyfriend headed out to one of the stalls to get our desserts. They asked me what I wanted, and they left. I stared at our empty plates as my eyelids started to feel heavy. Food coma was starting to hit me.
I noticed a couple eyeing our table, and I started mumbling spells in my mind, “Please don’t let them come closer.” I kept repeating.
To my disappointment, the repelling spell did not work. They approached me and asked if we were already done. I tried my hardest to smile naturally and told them we were just about to have our dessert, then they left. Just to be clear, there were still a lot of vacant seats; it’s just that our seat is right at the corner, thus giving anyone who sits there enough privacy. Not too long, my companions finally came back with the desserts on their hands. I told them about what happened, and my older sister laughed at me, knowing that she would probably act the same way I did. I started to shove spoonfuls of dessert in my mouth, trying to replenish my drained social battery due to the sudden, unexpected interaction I had with some strangers.
All in all, Lantaw is a nice place to eat out. Just make sure to bring with you a hoodie or a sweater because the cold breeze at night might freeze you before you get to your dessert. Anyway, jokes aside, if you are right around the area, give it a try and bring your family with you for dinner. After all, every meal is best shared with loved ones.
