Creamy Tofu Sisig: Easy Mix Method

in Hive Food • 11 hours ago

Hello, lovely foodies here in the Hive Food Community! šŸ«°šŸ»šŸ„°šŸ«°šŸ»
ā€Ž
ā€ŽIn my hubby's recent post, we visited my brother’s new house. There, he made us a tofu sisig, and I told myself that I have to make this at home. šŸ˜
ā€Ž
ā€ŽIt was so creamy, tasty, and full of flavor, way better than I expected. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I decided to copy his recipe and make it for my family too. šŸ˜‹šŸ˜
ā€Ž
ā€ŽIngredients:
ā€Ž

ā€Ž
ā€Žā€¢ 4 blocks tofu
ā€Žā€¢ 5 tablespoons mayonnaise
ā€Žā€¢ 1 small can liver spread
ā€Žā€¢ 2 medium red onions
ā€Žā€¢ 2 calamansi
ā€Žā€¢ 1 large red chili
ā€Žā€¢ 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
ā€Žā€¢ 1/2 teaspoon salt & black pepper
ā€Žā€¢ cooking oil
ā€Ž
ā€ŽLet's cook!
ā€Ž

ā€ŽFirst, I heated some cooking oil in my pan, enough to fry the tofu well. When the oil was hot enough, I dropped the tofu pieces in and fried them until they turned light golden brown and got a little crisp on the outside. I didn’t overcook them, just enough so they wouldn’t break easily. Once done, I took them out and set them aside for later.
ā€Ž

ā€ŽWhile the tofu cooled a little, I got a separate clean bowl and prepared all the ingredients for the special sauce. I scooped the liver spread and put all of it into the bowl, then added mayonnaise. Then I squeezed calamansi, added soy sauce, and sprinkled a little salt and ground black pepper. I mixed everything really well until it became smooth, thick, and evenly blended.
ā€Ž

ā€ŽNext, I took the fried tofu and put all the chopped red onion right on top of it. The onion adds a nice fresh crunch and mild sweetness that goes perfectly with the tofu. Then I poured all the creamy sauce I just made over the tofu and onions. I mixed everything gently, making sure every piece got coated nicely with the sauce.
ā€Ž

ā€ŽNow because we have kids at home, I just sliced the big red chili into thin pieces, but I did NOT mix it into the sisig. I just sprinkled and arranged all the chili slices right on top of the finished dish. This way, the kids can enjoy their serving without any spice.
ā€Ž
ā€ŽAnd that’s it! Just simple mixing, and we already had this delicious tofu sisig ready to eat.
ā€Ž
ā€ŽUntil my next recipe...
ā€Ž
ā€ŽThanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. šŸ’—šŸŒø
