Hello, lovely foodies here in the Hive Food Community! š«°š»š„°š«°š»
ā
āIn my hubby's recent post, we visited my brotherās new house. There, he made us a tofu sisig, and I told myself that I have to make this at home. š
ā
āIt was so creamy, tasty, and full of flavor, way better than I expected. I couldnāt stop thinking about it, so I decided to copy his recipe and make it for my family too. šš
ā
āIngredients:
ā

ā
ā⢠4 blocks tofu
ā⢠5 tablespoons mayonnaise
ā⢠1 small can liver spread
ā⢠2 medium red onions
ā⢠2 calamansi
ā⢠1 large red chili
ā⢠1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
ā⢠1/2 teaspoon salt & black pepper
ā⢠cooking oil
ā
āLet's cook!
ā

āFirst, I heated some cooking oil in my pan, enough to fry the tofu well. When the oil was hot enough, I dropped the tofu pieces in and fried them until they turned light golden brown and got a little crisp on the outside. I didnāt overcook them, just enough so they wouldnāt break easily. Once done, I took them out and set them aside for later.
ā

āWhile the tofu cooled a little, I got a separate clean bowl and prepared all the ingredients for the special sauce. I scooped the liver spread and put all of it into the bowl, then added mayonnaise. Then I squeezed calamansi, added soy sauce, and sprinkled a little salt and ground black pepper. I mixed everything really well until it became smooth, thick, and evenly blended.
ā

āNext, I took the fried tofu and put all the chopped red onion right on top of it. The onion adds a nice fresh crunch and mild sweetness that goes perfectly with the tofu. Then I poured all the creamy sauce I just made over the tofu and onions. I mixed everything gently, making sure every piece got coated nicely with the sauce.
ā

āNow because we have kids at home, I just sliced the big red chili into thin pieces, but I did NOT mix it into the sisig. I just sprinkled and arranged all the chili slices right on top of the finished dish. This way, the kids can enjoy their serving without any spice.
ā
āAnd thatās it! Just simple mixing, and we already had this delicious tofu sisig ready to eat.
ā
āUntil my next recipe...
ā
āThanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. ššø
