Cebu City is also a place with a rich history and a rich sense of culture, which is accompanied by the excellent culinary life. On a sunny afternoon, my best friend and I chose to visit one of the local treasures which are considered to be the best place with pasta dishes. One nice restaurant: when we walked inside the intimate place there was the smell of freshly prepared pasta and it made our mouths water immediately.
The environment was friendly and casual, rustic wooden table and dim lights created the best atmosphere waiting to have a delicious dinner. Our waiters were friendly and helpful in explaining the menu that had quite a number of pasta to offer, including traditional Italian formats as well as many own local variations.
We agreed on two signature items after extensive consultation, and the two were a creamy Carbonara and a spicy Aglio e Olio. The Carbonara was the most delicious combination of al dente pasta and thick and silky sauce covered with well done bacon bits and dusted with a pinch of Parmesan cheese. Every bite was like a warm hug which took us to Italy in a second.
The Aglio e Olio on the other hand was a pleasant surprise. Its plainness (with sauteed garlic in olive oil and a bit of chili flakes) only brought out the tastes of the fresh ingredients. This was a well balanced dishes with the right amount of spice that made us order more.
We told jokes and stories, and ate to our full hearts and made great memories to put to our life as we shared our meals.
