Poke bowl
I tried them a few times ordering in, but I think they're way overpriced considering that most of the bowl is rice and often the topping are not even enough to have a balanced bite for half of the bowl. So they are not something I order anymore when eating somewhere in a restaurant or ordering in. I planned on making one myself for a while but never did until a few weeks ago when I finally bought salmon and had ripe avocados again.
I'm so lucky we now live closer to the costa tropical because it means we have much better avocados available as well as other fruits that we barely found in the other area. I can now even find fresh pitayas in the tiny fruit and vegetable markets, which is lovely, especially as they are priced much better than what I paid for. Win!
The ingredients
Honestly, I wasn't very sure what I should put in this first attempt of the poke bowl and I didn't have time to order in anymore so I used those ingredients that I had available and decided to dive into the options a bit more next time (which is in a few days, once my avocados are ripe enough, lol).
So here are the ingredients I used:
- rice
- avocado
- salmon
- cucumber
- red onion
- parsley (I through that in about every dish I make, lol)
- mayonnaise
- pepper
- salt
- mustard

I cut the salmon into small parts and added some mayonnaise, pepper, salt and mustard (just something I tried after reading it somewhere) and hoped it would be nice...

The avocados were also cut into small parts, this one was perfect in taste!

And of course, the cucumber in parts as well as some parsley, and rice, but I didn't take a picture of the rice, as it's boring anyway :)
Bowl size
When I was going to prep the bowls, after cutting all the ingredients, I realized that we didn't have the right sized bowls for the poke bowls that I had in mind because we dumped many things in the old home. So I ended up using a deep bowl instead, it didn't look pretty, but it sure tasted good!

Next time I will mix up the ingredients a bit and see how that turns out. I'm probably also going to find more options for the salmon parts because I think I can do better.. But in the end we had a great dinner and some lunch the next day from the leftovers..
All pictures above are mine..
