Veo todas estas imágenes antes de comenzar a escribir y me saca unos cuantos suspiros; eso es lo bonito de captar momentos especiales y guardar esas imágenes para el recuerdo. Y de eso se trata hoy esta publicación que nace de nuestro reto semanal en la comunidad de Silverbloggers.

Sushi, un platillo de celebración

Hoy les quiero contar de esta receta ya que me trae muchos recuerdos bonitos que alimentan mi espíritu y llena mi corazón de felicidad.

Se trata de la vez que quise aprender hacer Sushi y de como dos personas especiales me apoyaron en el proceso. En enero del 2023 tuve la osadía de adentrarme en un mundo culinario que era completamente desconocido para mí; en ese tiempo iniciaba una de las amistades mas bonitas que he tenido en esta mitad de siglo de mi existencia.

Today I want to tell you about this recipe because it brings back so many beautiful memories that nourish my spirit and fill my heart with happiness.

It’s about the time I wanted to learn how to make sushi and how two special people supported me through the process. In January 2023, I had the audacity to venture into a culinary world that was completely unknown to me; at that time, I was beginning one of the most beautiful friendships I’ve had in this half-century of my life.

Noraida es el nombre de esta mujer que me ha brindado una amistad bonita, sencilla, sincera, con su humildad ha sabido conquistar mi corazón y el de mi familia. Esa amistad comenzó en medio de la pandemia cuando todos buscábamos actividades que realizar mientras el mundo volvía a la normalidad, yo hacia caminatas con dos amigas hacia las montañas del Ávila y ella mostro interés en aquello que hacíamos cada tarde y se unió al grupo, yo solo la conocía de vista, pero luego fue naciendo una bonita amistad que se ha mantenido ya por unos cuantos años.

Noraida is the name of this woman who has given me a beautiful, simple, and sincere friendship; with her humility, she has won over my heart and that of my family. That friendship began in the midst of the pandemic when we were all looking for things to do as the world returned to normal. I used to go hiking with two friends in the Ávila mountains, and she showed interest in what we were doing every afternoon and joined the group. I only knew her by sight at first, but then a beautiful friendship blossomed that has lasted for several years now.

Mujeres al fin, mientras caminábamos hablábamos de comida, la casa, los hijos, nuestros sueños e inquietudes. Ella nos contaba de como su hijo y la novia hacían Sushi casi todas las noches y de lo fácil que era hacer este platillo. De inmediato mostré mi interés y ella con su buena disposición hizo los arreglos para que Michel y Junior me enseñaran.

Finally, as we walked, we talked about food, home, our children, our dreams, and our concerns. She told us how her son and his girlfriend made sushi almost every night and how easy it was to prepare this dish. I immediately showed interest, and she kindly arranged for Michel and Junior to teach me.

La verdad fue una experiencia maravillosa, no solo aprendí lo básico, sino que pude replicar mis conocimientos para llevarlos a otro evento especial en mi vida.

It was truly a wonderful experience; not only did I learn the basics, but I was able to put my new skills to use for another special event in my life.

La graduación de mi hijo Israel

Luego de haber aprendido hacer Sushi en el mes de enero tenía pendiente la graduación de mi hijo mayor en la universidad y como toda madre que ama a sus hijos le gusta celebrar, aunque sea con algo sencillo.

After learning how to make sushi in January, my eldest son’s college graduation was coming up, and like any mother who loves her children, I wanted to celebrate—even if it was just something simple.

El día antes del evento nos fuimos a Caracas con mi amiga Noraida quien se puso a la orden para acompañarme y guiarme en las compras y así evitar que comprara cosas sin necesidad que fueran alterar el presupuesto.

Al día siguiente todos nos fuimos al acto, luego pasamos por un restaurant de Sushi y por la noche invite a varios amigos quienes celebraron conmigo ese momento único y especial.

The day before the event, we went to Caracas with my friend Noraida, who offered to accompany me and help me with the shopping so I wouldn’t buy unnecessary things that would blow the budget.

The next day, we all went to the ceremony, then stopped by a sushi restaurant, and that night I invited several friends over to celebrate that unique and special moment with me.

Ellos no se podían creer que yo estaba haciendo Sushi y hablaban del sabor tan rico que tenía. La verdad es que todo eso me llenaba de orgullo, me emocionaba y me inspiraba para seguir haciéndolo.

They couldn’t believe I was making sushi and raved about how delicious it tasted. The truth is, all of that filled me with pride, moved me, and inspired me to keep doing it.

Aquí no vengo hablar de costos, ni nada de eso porque ya todos sabemos que el Sushi no es muy barato que digamos; aquí lo que importa es que esa receta tan especial ira siempre ligada con el recuerdo de ver a mi hijo graduado, triunfando, escalando un peldaño mas y por eso pido a Dios que lo siga guiando y lo siga acompañando para que siga cosechando mas logros en su vida.

I’m not here to talk about costs or anything like that because we all know that sushi isn’t exactly cheap; what matters here is that this very special recipe will always be linked to the memory of seeing my son graduate, succeed, and take another step forward, and that’s why I ask God to continue guiding him and walking with him so that he can keep achieving more in his life.
