        Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the Space Fence radar system built by Lockheed Martin that is the cause of the EM radiation. If it was nuclear it would be Ionizing radiation and the island would be evacuated. This is so planes don't fly through the beam of the radar and fall into the ocean.
