I love gardening and I am so happy when I see bees working hard in nature, especially when I find chubby ones ๐ How hardworking, how chubby, how cute they are!
The bees are cute and honey is delicious, especially since I moved to Germany, where beekeeping is popular, I use honey almost everyday. I buy local and my partner's mother gave us some from southern Germany. My mother loved honey, so I used to send it to her and bring it home as souvenirs.
Along with being delicious, honey also has a healthy image, doesn't it? When my daughter catches a cold, I give her a teaspoon of honey morning and night. Honey with warm milk make us sleep well. I also use honey in the ginger syrup that I always keep in my refrigerator.
In Germany, organic stores and recently drugstores are selling expensive Manuka honey from New Zealand and throat lozenges containing Manuka honey. Manuka honey itself is expensive, but I sometimes buy throat lozenges because I feel like they are effective and they are in away affordable around 3 EUR. They are more for my family, and I eat them even though I don't catch cold.
I love honey, but I used to use it without really knowing what the health benefits were ๐ It's delicious and I wanted to support local beekeepers....
Then this winter, there was a good explanation in a podcast by a libertarian bitcoiner. Eating honey can help build up a tolerance to pollen in the region due to the trace amounts of pollen in the honey. It made sense. Fortunately, I don't have allergy, so I don't need any measures, but I'm sure that it also makes me more resistant to something else.
I think it is good to eat local honey and adapt to the environment we are living in. Good reason to eat honey from Germany, Sachsen and Leipzig and support local bee keepers.
I recently found a black sesame paste, and I ate Skyr with the black sesame paste and honey. It's a protein rich super snack. Yup, I feel like I'm getting healthier.
As a thank you to the bees, I will plant flowers on my balcony that they will enjoy and I will enjoy the local honey ๐ฏ
