Hello friends and foodlovers! I hope you are all doing very well. 😁

If you read my posts regularly, you must know that with @genesisledger, we have a little ritual every week: the Friday night aperitif! We love to celebrate the end of the work week and the start of the weekend with a little apéro dßnatoire.

And last Friday, we made samoussas!

It's been a long time since we've made one, but we love it! 😋

They're super quick to make, and best of all, they're infinitely versatile. You can add the toppings of your choice!

For these samoussas, we used what we had in the cupboard and fridge: tuna, grated cheese and goat's cheese. And we loved it!

So here's a quick share of this recipe for 3 or 4 people (about 16 samoussas) 👇

Ingredients

1 - samoussas vendredi.jpg

  • 8 sheets of bricks (available in the fresh section of the supermarket, along with puff pastry, shortcrust and shortbread doughs) ;
  • 1 can tuna ;
  • 1 bag of grated Emmental cheese (approx. 75 grams);
  • œ goat log ;
  • Olive oil (for cooking).

At first, I wanted to make samoussas with tuna and grated Emmental cheese, and others with goat's cheese and lardons. But at the last minute, I changed my mind and didn't feel like adding the lardons. So they're in the photo, but in the end, I didn't put them in!

But as I've already said, in the end, you can add any ingredients you like, depending on your tastes.

Preparation steps

I started by cutting the first sheet of brick pastry in half, to form a semicircle. Then I folded this half-circle in on itself:

2-samoussas vendredi.jpg

Then I added the filling of my choice, in this case tuna and grated Emmental cheese:

3-samoussas vendredi.jpg
4-samoussas vendredi.jpg

Then I folded the first edge over to form the first triangle:

5-samoussas vendredi.jpg

Next, fold into a triangle, while holding the whole thing tightly so that the filling doesn't escape:

6-samoussas vendredi.jpg

After 3 triangles, a small piece of brick pastry remains, which you must try to tuck into the previous triangle. This seals the samoussa!

7-samoussas vendredi.jpg
8-samoussas vendredi.jpg

Repeat the process for each sheet of brick pastry.

I made two types of samoussas: tuna and grated Emmental cheese, then goat's cheese and grated Emmental cheese.

And here's what I got before baking:

Once you've mastered folding samoussas, it's great fun to make! 😁

To cook, I heated a little olive oil in a frying pan :

And I added some samoussas :

I let them cook for a few minutes on each side (about 4 minutes):

And then it was time to enjoy!

We made a little aperitif with sausage, samoussas and sourdough rejection crackers, all accompanied by the white cheese and wasabi sauce. It was another great aperitif! 😋

And next time, I'd like to make Normandy camembert samoussas, with chicken shreds and apples! I'm sure it would be really good!

What would you like to put in your samoussas?

See you soon,
Johanna

1 - samoussas vendredi.jpg

  • 8 feuilles de bricks (ça se trouve dans le rayon frais du supermarchĂ©, avec les pĂątes feuilletĂ©es, brisĂ©es et sablĂ©es) ;
  • 1 boĂźte de thon ;
  • 1 sachet d’emmental rĂąpĂ© (environ 75 grammes) ;
  • œ bĂ»che de chĂšvre ;

Johanna

Great idea for an aperitiv snack 😋😋

As an Indian, I’ve eaten samosas all my life — they’re one of my all-time favourite snacks! I must say, using cheese and tuna is a twist I’ve never seen before, but your samoussas look absolutely divine. Crispy on the outside, melty and flavourful inside? Amazing!

Yes, I understand that the tuna and grated cheese mix isn't very common and to be honest, this was the first time I'd used it too and it was pretty good! 😁 Thanks so much for your comment 🙏

They look so tempting. I've always loved the combination of tuna and cheese.

Yum-yum! ❀

Thank you so much 😘

Such a delicious spread. Your ideas for Samoussa fillings are infinitely better than the vegetarian version that is famous here in India. Another version we see here are spicy chicken mince/beef mince stuffed samosas and those are amazing too, so maybe you could try those too, if it sounds interesting.

Like always, your recipe is going to make for an interesting weekend experiment in my kitchen😂 Thank you!

Hahaha I must admit that the tuna and grated cheese mix isn't common, I'd never tried it before, but it was what I had in the cupboard and it made me want to đŸ€Ł

I'm quite curious, what is the vegetarian version famous in India made of? The spicy chicken mince/beef version makes me really want it too!

I'm pretty glad you like my recipe! I can't wait to hear your feedback on the tuna/grated cheese mix then 😁 Thanks to you for your comment!
