Without family, everything will feel different, especially on Eid. Eid Al-Fitr Hits Different This Year
When we were little, we usually longed for a fascinating adult life. Like it's fascinating to see how adults can do anything that children can't do. Do you feel the same way?
I feel that adult life is very hard. But I don't regret it. All phases of life are worthy and a blessing to live.
Moving around and experiencing many surprises in life is something I often feel right now. It's an inevitable part of life in my opinion if I want a better life.
Being stuck in one place, my comfort zone is not my choice. So now I choose to move to another place, precisely to another island to find new things. I got out of my comfort zone with my husband.
We moved just before entering the month of Ramadan Karim and now after a month of fasting, we are celebrating Eid Al-Fitr. It's Eid al-Fitr night.
Since my parents passed away, I feel that everything is different. Even though I have an older sister and an older brother, it's still different.
So, I chose to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on a different island from my family. Everything does feel different and we are used to it.
But do you believe that wherever we are, there is always love. Family doesn't always have to be those who are related by blood to us. Family can actually be created from our closest friends or even those we just met.
On another island where I currently live, we have other relatives. So, my husband and I were invited to celebrate Eid al-Fitr at my family's relatives' house.
Crispy Spinach Snacks
There are many traditional snacks available that are usually served when Eid arrives. Many relatives gather on Eid. So there will be a lot of food.
My husband and I also served a cup of black coffee and traditional coconut cakes. I felt the warmth, even though I was far from my biological family.
So we don't need to be afraid of not feeling the warmth of family even though we are far from family. As long as we do good things, I always believe that we will also be treated well by others.
After gathering and chatting at length, I went into my room to rest. But then there was a knock on my door and I was given a sweet gift from a women who welcomed me here.
I smiled touched. She whispered to say happy Eid and don't be sad if I don't have parents anymore. I can consider her as my own mother.
And another fun thing, I got matcha and milk pie! Oh, I feel so happy on this Eid night.
Various flavors of delicious and of course sweet milk pie variants. Luckily the bitter matcha drink balances the sweet taste. Balance of life.
May you have a beautiful night even though you are far from your family and never give up on the situation. Keep the spirit up!
