Bonsai, an exceptional Japanese restaurant in Ibiza

This is one of the best known restaurants in Ibiza for sushi, and it is quite expensive. I went with a friend at the time and ended up spending €50 with food and drink.

As my friend was not in the mood for sushi, I ended up buying a delicious plate of pasta with red shrimp, which was a total success. As you can see in the pictures, the dish had roots as decoration, but they are also eaten and are quite tasty. The name of this meal is Shrimp Yakisoba.

The thing about eating sushi alone is that for the price, I was only going to be able to choose 2 flavors, and that was not the intention, so I ventured with this delicacy.

Bonsai, un restaurante japonés excepcional en Ibiza

Este es uno de los restaurantes más conocidos de Ibiza para comer sushi, y es bastante costoso. Yo en ese momento fui con una amiga y terminé gastando €50 con la comida y la bebida.

Como mi amiga no tenía ganas de comer sushi, terminé por comprar un delicioso plato de pasta con gambas rojas, lo cual fue un acierto total. Como pueden ver en las imágenes, el plato traía raíces a modo de decoración, pero que también se comen y son bastante ricas. El nombre de esta comida es Yakisoba de Gambas.

El tema de comer sushi sola es que para el precio, solo iba a poder elegir 2 sabores, y no era la intención, por ello, me aventuré con esta delicia.

While I was waiting for my food I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the place, since it was in itself a tourist attraction. Since my friend had met one of her co-workers, I said: great! This is my moment.

Bonsai's décor transports you to Japan, and although I've never been there, the very island atmosphere added to that oriental touch with the chic energy of the restaurant clearly takes you to another place.

For those who don't know, bonsai refers to a form of tree that is cultivated with extreme patience and care. Its roots are cut off so that the tree grows in an extremely healthy way but you are looking for an exact specimen in total mini size. It is something very beautiful and I have always seen it as an exponent of Japanese gardens or sites.

Mientras esperaba mi comida aproveché para tomar algunas fotos al lugar, ya que era en sí mismo todo un atractivo turístico. Ya que mi amiga se había encontrado con uno de sus compañeros de trabajo, yo dije: genial! Este es mi momento.

El decorado de Bonsai te traslada a Japón, y aunque nunca he estado allí, el ambiente bien isleño sumado a ese toque oriental con la energía chic del restaurante claro que te llevan a otro lugar.

Para quienes no sepan, bonsai hace referencia a una forma de árbol que se cultiva con extrema paciencia y cuidado. Se le van cortando sus raíces para que el árbol crezca de manera sumamente saludable pero se busca un ejemplar exacto en tamaño mini total. Es algo muy bonito y siempre lo he visto como exponente de jardines o sitios japoneses.

In the end my friend did not eat because she was not hungry, but we both ordered a drink after my plate of food. They were original drinks from this restaurant and they were characterized: my drink because it had wasabi and my friend's drink because it had an electric plant that you had to eat before drinking to activate the flavors of the drink.

The drink with the flower was called Sweet Sin, and it had a mixture of turmeric with vodka and white chocolate. The drink with wasabi had tequila, melon and orange. I never quite knew why it was so dark, its name was Frenzy Foam. I didn't like the drink I ordered because I didn't feel a balance between the flavors and in the end it wasn't clear what it tasted like. My friend's was delicious.

Since she didn't want to try the flower, I ate it, hehe. I forgot to film the process, as my face must have been very funny, that tiny yellow flower really numbed my mouth.

Al final mi amiga no comió porque no tenía hambre, pero las dos nos pedimos una bebida después de mi plato de comida. Eran tragos originales de este restaurante y se caracterizaban: mi bebida porque llevaba wasabi y la de mi amiga porque tenía una planta eléctrica que había que comer antes de beber para activar los sabores del trago.

El trago con la flor se llamaba Dulce Pecado, y llevaba una mezcla de cúrcuma con vodka y chocolate blanco. La bebida con wasabi llevaba tequila , melón y naranja. Nunca supe bien por qué era tan oscura, su nombre era Frenesía Foam. El trago que yo me pedí no me gustó mucho, pues no sentía un balance entre los sabores y al final no era claro a qué sabía. El de mi amiga estaba delicioso.

Como ella no quiso probar la flor, pues me la comí yo, jeje. Olvidé filmar el proceso, pues mi cara debe haber sido muy graciosa, sí que adormecía la boca esa ínfima flor amarilla.

It is a highly recommended restaurant. Although its prices are high, they are not too far from what you would pay in a good restaurant in other places in Spain such as Barcelona or Malaga.

Es un restaurante sumamente recomendado. Aunque sus precios son elevados, tampoco se alejan demasiado de lo que se pagaría en un buen restaurante de otros sitios de España como Barcelona o Málaga.
